WWF SmackDown! Just Bring It
Review by ChaosStalker87
"A pathetic attempt for a wrestling game"
If you were a WWF/E and still a WWF/E fan, do not even go near this game! To set the record straight, this game is horrible in many aspects. If you would want a more realistic wrestling game, I would say get either WWE Smackdown! Shut Your Mouth or WWF No Mercy. Games like those have good game play, Just Bring It doesn’t. The thing in this game that saves it the most is probably the music or the create a wrestler mode.
Graphics: 1/10
THQ finally decided to make a Smackdown game for the Playstation2. Don’t you think they would at least have better graphics? I think so. First off, the wrestling models in Just Bring It look like plastic and do not even resemble the WWF wrestlers. This is what I hate the most out of the game. Hell, even WWF Smackdown! Know Your Role had better graphics than this game. The hair looks horrible and even worse, there is no blood in this game! Which was a major let down. It looks like action figures attacking each other, or something. Even the created wrestlers (mostly all the time, but sometimes not) look horrible.
Control: 4/10
Well, it isn’t that bad. But it is horrible for controlling the wrestlers. I’ll summarize the controls up. X is for attacks, like punching and kicking. The square button is for blocking, you’ll be hitting this button a lot while facing other opponents. O is for grappling moves. You must hit on of the directional arrows with the O button, or other wise you will just whip the opponent into the ropes. For running, you press the triangle button. This makes you just run in any direction and jump onto the turnbuckle. For picking up weapons, press the R1 button and the X button to use it. If there is more than one wrestler in the ring, press the R2 button to now be focusing on them. Once you get an opponent groggy, you can press the L1 button to do your finishing move. But it may be a submission, top rope or behind finisher. So keep in mind of that. And finally, the R2 button is for taunting. Press the R2 button with the directional buttons for different taunts.
Game play: 0/10
Holy crap, does this game ever move fast! Yes, it does move that fast. Ever more so than WWF Smackdown! and WWF Smackdown! Know Your Role. The game play in this game doesn’t even look like the stuff you would see on TV. For example, a small lightweight wrestler picking up a huge 500 pound wrestler and slamming him into the mat. THQ scores bad at that one. Complaints: 1, THQ: 0. Even the matches are too short. They last only about 2 minutes, at the max. THQ needs to learn that No Mercy had way better game play, maybe they should use that game engine again. But knowing them, it will probably never ever happen again. Or so we think.
Story: 0/10
Boo! Put some actual freaking story lines into this game! I swear, it’s the same damn story every time you enter Story mode! It gets boring after 2 tries, then you will never want to play it again. But you will eventually want to after, to unlock all the secret characters and created parts for create a wrestler. Which is pathetic, since each time you win season mode or defend a title it only unlocks 1 item. If it were 2 or 3, I might have bumped this rating up to a 1.
Create a Wrestler: 7/10
Thank you! Something that actually saves this game from getting worse, if you know what I mean. If you want to create a different attire for a existing wrestler in the game, you can’t actually have the exact same face. It makes it so you have to create it yourself. That’s right, it won’t even look close to what it should be. But as for the parts, they are horrible! Masks aren’t good, same goes for mostly everything else. But these are the two things that save this mode, creating newer wrestlers and made up creations. Why you ask? Sometimes when you create a new wrestling in this game, they may actually look like them. But not really. Your own custom creations will turn out fine. I’d just say fill up all the 12 slots for created wrestlers with customs.
Replayability: 1/10
Once you play this game for the first time, I assure you that you won’t want to play it again. Horrible matches, story and game play. I have to stay far, far away from this game now. It quite possibly ruins my game collection. Which is a bad thing.
To Buy or Rent?: Rent
This isn’t really worth the $20 I would say. Hell, I paid $50 for it when it came out. Boy, what a freaking rip off! $50 for a horrible game? No way dude! I’d rather play it for a day or 2 than buy it.
