Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds
Review by perfectionist00
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer 2: Chaos Bleeds depicts the Buffy "universe" quite well."
The game depicts the Buffy ''universe'' quite well in my opinion.
In Buffy the Vampire Slayer 2: Chaos Bleeds, the characters you control vary depending upon the story. You are able to play Faith, Buffy, Xander, Willow, Sid the Dummy, and Spike. The setting of the game is, as many of you should already know, a lost episode. Other features include a multi-player mode and some extras.
Gameplay: (8) The gameplay is fun. You get to kill vampires with an arsenal of weapons including a crossbow, sword, holywater, stake, and axe. Those are just some of the weapons. Most of the characters are able to handle themselves quite easily with hand to hand combat. With the exception of Willow. With Willow, you have to cast spells or use her weak hand to hand skills. She is still a useful character. The Camera angle is adjustable sometimes and at other times isn't adjustable. This can lead to some cheap shots by the bad guys.
Controls: (8) I found the controls to be fairly simple once I learned them. I would probably say that 30 minutes to 1 hour is about as much time as you would need to fully learn the controls. The only thing I had trouble with at first was switching weapons and using items; once I learned what I was doing wrong it was easy.
Sound: (8) The sound is very ''Buffy-like''. It adds a lot to the experience. The stand ins for Buffy and Willow are okay, but I can't help but imagine how buffy would sound if Sarah actually voiced her part. Also, when you dust a vamp your characters have quirky little remarks they give which I found to be quite humorous. Eventually, the remarks will get old, but are humorous when you first play. I also enjoyed the cutscene conversations.
Graphics: (6.5) The graphics are by far the worst thing in Buffy. Sometimes the characters look like their real life counterparts and then sometimes they don't. However, the detail given to the enemies is a plus, but, they should have worked on the characters more. I won't dwell on the graphics because they aren't that bad, they just should have been a lot better.
Overall: 8 out of 10(not an average)
Great Game for Buffy fans and action/adventure game fans.
Rent the game if you are a bit skeptical about playing a Buffy game. Buy it if you are a Buffy fan or a fan of action/adventure games. I hope you enjoy the game like I did.
End!
