"Some Sequels can be better, this proves it!"

Many games offer gamers high anticipation for a sequel. DDRMAX was a great game and was what got me into DDRing in the first place. Hearing about DDRMAX2, I was ecstatic! The problem was, most sequels can never be as good as the first, especially if you loved the first one like I did. Low and behold I picked up my copy the first day it came out, and I was already dancing the night away. Prepare for a real treat.

GRAPHICS

Improved slightly. There was never much to graphics in this game to begin with. However, most gamers will now see that many songs now have its' actual music video in it. Other than that, there is not much to say besides nicely done.

SOUND/MUSIC

Fantastic! I love these new songs. Gamers may also be pleased on the account of big music celebrities like Kylie Minogue, Dirty Vegas, Crystal Method, KC and the Sunshine Band, 2 Limited, Earth Wind and Fire, and so much more.

But what about the classic DDR songs? Have no fear, they are here too. Dozens of songs from previous DDR games are here like Kind Lady, AM-P3, Groove and much much more.

Considering this is the most (if not, one of the most) important aspects of the game. And it is also highly improved and enjoyable. Oh thank heaven.

GAME PLAY

Note to readers: This portion is for gamers with a dance pad and not just a PS2 controller. Also, if you dont have a dance pad, get one. It is pointless to play it without one, or two for that matter. Back to the review.

The essence of pure fun. Thats right, I said it. DDR is known for being a great series not just by songs alone, but for the way it plays. Simple to learn, difficult to master. To play all you have to do is step on the indicated arrows that light up on the screen.

On to difficulty. There are several modes. For new comers, there is Beginner. A mode that actually has a guy dance with you on the screen for extra help, a nice new addition. For the vets at this game, you will be most pleased to find out that the songs are much more challenging than any other previous DDR game. Don't feel to humbled if you have to step down a level while playing.

EXTRAS/ REPLAY VALUE

Just like the last one, there is a ton of stuff to do. You have many songs to unlock, well over 30. That, and there are several different levels of difficulty for each song. So once you are done with Light mode, you still have Standard, Heavy, Non-Stop, challenging and much more to go. If thats not enough than you also have practice, workout, vs, double, challenging, training, and even edit mode. So there is more than enough reason to play over 100 hours of dancing that you will put into this game.

OVERALL

Outstanding, they have more songs, more modes, brought back classics songs, and many more reasons to get lost in this game. New comers and vets alike will adore this game a cherish it, which is why I give an outstanding 10 out of 10. Keep on dancing gamers.
