Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
Review by LightScribe
"The game improves upon the last installments, but does away with some of the features."
Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly is the fourth installment in the Spyro the Dragon series, but the first made for the Playstation 2. The game has a similar storyline to the other games in the series, and features the return of Ripto from the second game in the series. The game has used the hardware quite well, but still has its problems.
Game Play: 7/10 – Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly is a great game with an interesting plot. The game has an excellent story to it and has many things to do and see. The problem is that the game lacks levels, with significantly less than the previous installments. The loading times are also quite severe, which will often have you reading a book while the levels are loading. In the game, Spyro has different types of breaths, including bubble, electric and ice. The game has also done away with the Sparx stages, which were great fun to do. When you need to capture the dragonflies in the bubbles, they will run away, which will cause more fun and enjoyment.
Graphics: 9/10 – When the Spyro series was transferred to the Playstation 2, the graphics improved dramatically. The only thing that I dislike is the faces of the other characters, which are still not rounded properly. When you walk in a body of water, it ripples realistically. The whole world is high resolution, and the game has no lag. If you are used to playing the older versions of the game, Spyro will see to walk slower than normal, but you will get used to it.
Sound: 9/10 – The sound in Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly is heaps better than the sound in its predecessors. There are sounds specific for each stage, and there is a lot more variety in the music.
Game Value 9/10 – This game has a learning curve of about 10 minutes, and has a ranging difficulty. This means that this game is suitable for the whole family. There is room for up to five different games, and you will enjoy playing the game several times over, and trying to achieve that 100 percent.
Conclusion – Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly is a fun game to play when you want to relax. The game is also good to play when you want to spend some time with your family. The game is not suitable for parties, as the levels take a long time to complete, especially if you want to collect all of the gems. Overall, this game receives a rating of 9/10.
