Freedom Fighters
Review by papadopus
"Great Gameplay, great story, great music. What more could you want?"
Freedom Fighters.
The cold war hasn't ended. All of europe is now communist. An attempt has been made to assasinate the president.
That's what the game tells you in the neat little pre-
game cutscene.
Gameplay 10/10
This is the whole point of playing games to get a great gameplay expierience out of them and that is what I got over my weekend rental. Throughout the game you go through different parts of new york freeing p.o.w.'s bombing gas stations and commanding a squad of up to 12 soldiers. And if you're worrying about this game becoming a cheap SOCOM ripoff it's not. Commanding you're squad is as easy as 1,2,3. Literally the square, triangle, and circle buttons are used to command you're squad. Tap triangle and one member from your squad will attack the area that you're facing tap it twice and two members from you squad will go attack, tap it three times and three members from your squad will go. Or just hold it down and everyone from you squad will attack. The same thing work's with the other commands circle being defend, and square being regroup/abbort. Overall the game gives a great memorable expierience.
Graphics 9/10
The graphics in this game are great. The game's frame rate never lags (well atleast not in my experience playing) and I got about halfway through the game. The only bad part is the characters faces were a litlle to unrealistic and there mouths never moved when they talked.
Sound 10/10
The sound in this game is great from the music to the sound of gas tanks exploding. The score in this game is powerful done by the budapest symphony it really sets the feel for the game.
Value 7/10
This the only real part where the game lacks. The game itself is relatively short in the easiest difficulty which can beat in a few days. But if you have the patience to play through the higher difficulties the game really ramps up in difficulty, and makes you use you're soldiers to the best of your abilities.
Control 9/10
In the primary control setup you use the left stick to move around. While using the right one to look. The x, and y, axis can be reversed for your preferences or kept normal either way it's your choice. My only qualms with this setup is that when you want to go into precision aiming the left stick has to be held down so wanting to move while aiming is very difficult.
Overall 9/10
This is a great game that mixes the best parts of socom and medal of honor together to get an excellent war game that should be played by everyone who has the chance whether renting, buying, or borrowing.
