Mega Man X7
Review by Demolisho
"Mediocre, at best"
Remember those days when Megaman was the talk of the town? Going over to your friends house to defeat the dark forces of ''Snake Man'' or how about ''Bomb Man''? So do I, and I'm still obsessed with the Blue man, but this isn't the same Blue Warrior, this is X. The second Megaman incarnation we have received from capcom, and it's been losing it's touch. Oh I don't mean to insult the game, it's just the amount of effort put into them as of late, they could be better, but we all know capcom, don't we? Make a game, then make 15 sequals in differant formats with minor changes in the gameplay, but this time, they put in some effort, but I'm still pondering, was it enough?
First thing to point out is
Graphics 7/10
Oh sure, add some cell shading, some crappy scenary, and a Camera that pisses you off. The basic things to a mediocre game. The Graphics at best are not bad, not bad at all. I included Camera in here considering it has to do with the way you view the graphical detail, oh sure I could've placed it in the gameplay section, but then it wouldn't be as positive.
Sound 9/10
Like all megaman games, this is where the game get's it's bananas. Pure goodness coming from such a lovely techno beat. I can't say anything really negative about this, except for Hyenard, he speaks too much too fast. The English VA isn't as horrible as X4.
Gameplay 7/10
This part is really confusing, for all veteran X-players, 3d platforming to 2d platforming. It's not bad, but I can't really say it's good. However, it is fun. It takes a while to get used to, but once you do, the game gets much easier.
Plot? 5/10
Not really much to say about this, they don't really explain anything in this game. It's more of an intro to Axl than anything else.
Replay Value? 6/10
Yes, this game does have some replay ability, once you finish the last fight you are given the option to save with all the power ups you recieved earlier, that way you can max out every one of the hunters abilities. However, how far can you go? You'll probably end up stopping the second run right before the 7th stage you'd choose.
Overall 6/10
This is not an average of the scores above, this is the games complete rating. My advice to you people who want to play this, Rent it first. It's the only way to make sure you'll like it enough to buy.
