Mega Man X7

"Not what i expected"

After a too long wait and way to much hype megaman x 7 was released and sadly its continues megamans trend of the downward spiral. Lets start shall we?

Graphics 7/10: Finally this area gets much improved, the charcters look great and most of the stages look pretty good but there are still some rough spots, in the in game story scenes the characters don't move their mouths whitch is kinda cheap, i think by now with games like final fantasy 10 that capcom would be able to have the character mouths move at least.

Gameplay 4/10: this is where the game fails big time. Megaman has always jumped when you said, shoot when you said etc. the megaman games have been some of the most resopnive when it comes to controls. This is most evident in the 3d scenes, the charcters movemant is not fluid at all, its very choppy, the lock feature is terriable if the enemy moves to far to the right or flys around you in a circle you wil not be able to lock onto him, a few of the bosses are extremly cheap and you will have to fight them again and again, most bosses are much easier to beat with just the regular buster then the enemy weapons. Zero's hit detection is way off especially in 3d, it seems enemies can hit you everytime and from anywhere where as you cant, another annoying thing the game does is if you get hit you go flying back, this can be anoying in stages like flame hyenard where most of it is surronded by lava very cheap.

Music 8/10: The usual quality not bad not great, the charcter voices i think are fitting but poorly done. The voice actors are terriable, but at least megaman doesn't sound like a little girl anymore.

Story 7/10: Again the usual nothing really new here, it mainly sets up axl as a new charcter, and from what i read this game pretty much leads into megaman x command mission whitch will be heavy on story, it has some plot twists here and there but again for megaman games the plot has been better that most.

Replay 3/10: Unlike most megaman games you will not want to play this again, I almost brought this game back because it is so frustrating, I'm all for hard games, but the game should be challanging not cheap. After you beat the game you can replay it with whatever upgrades you have and with x from the begiing but wheter or not you will get to the end and want to play again depend on your patiance.

Final score:5.8/10

X7 fails where it should have succeded to me it feels like this game was rushed, i think that with the 2 years capcom had they could have done more, this is only for the most die hard megaman fans and even those may become turned off from the megaman games
