SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs
Review by DarkReign128
"Ready to roll."
This game is easily one of the best online games around.
Package is simply the game. Headset must be purchased otherwise.
The game contains everything in the first Socom Navy Seals and so much more.
Single player involves 12 missions in which you can set the difficulty to what you want it to be. An improvement over the first Socom when you had to progress to the next difficulty by being on easy. There are other difficulties ahead of the hardest one. You can start with an easy or go with a hard.
Your team is a team of four including you. You are the leader. You can command them with the preset commands as you wish. Improved commands added in this game and commands such as ''get down'' and the ability to have your Able element hold his position. The team is also much improved. They no longer fire at the enemy without your permission unless it's a life or death situation as well as inquire suggestive commands during hot situations. They also now point out enemy targets on your radar, and will kill you if they realize you're trying to purposefully kill them(yes I have tried). There are a total of twelve missions which take you to different areas and in different hot situations around the world. The areas are also much improved and take you into city style environments even. There's much to do, and since your team is not as knuckle-headed, there's less aggravation in the missions.
Online
Online seems to be the main attraction to this game, and it isn't without a reason. There's a lot of fun to be had. All of the old Socom 1 maps are here, and a whole lot more maps are added as well. The old maps are even reinvented in a way. Maps such as Abandoned have been set to night time. Some players like it. Some don't. Also, with the modifications added to the game, such as changes in accuracy of guns, field of vision modified to a more realistic setting, and other such factors that have been added change the game a whole lot. No more point blank rambo shots killing your opponents. This makes sniper rifles are much more useful and fair matched as well. The match types are as follows.
Suppression: an all out deathmatch.
Extraction: Seals must =get hostages in which start at terrorist location. Hostages cannot be killed by either team. Seals must rescue and terrorists must stop them.
Demolition: A bomb is in the center of the map. Each team must try to get the bomb and plant it at the opponent's base.
NEW MATCH STYLES
Escort: Seal team starts with three hostages. Seals must bring them to an extraction zone without the terrorists killing them. Terrorists CAN KILL THE HOSTAGES.
Breach: Seal team must plant a bomb at enemy base and terrorists must stop them.
New weapon types have also been added to the game.
Rocket launchers, grenade launchers, land mines, thermal vision for sniper rifles, and other types of guns have been added to the game. However, some weapons will not be selectable on all maps. Some are only allowed on certain maps.
Another great feature for certain players is the ability to restrict ranks and weapon types on online game rooms. ''Pistols only'' or ''snipers only'' and such options are added. Rank restrictions can also be added to keep new players out of professional rooms and professional players out of the new player rooms.
In total I give the game a 9/10 because it's great and provides fun, especially online.
