Warriors of Might and Magic
Review by Wolf Kage
"An Average Score, for an Average Game."
This is just an average game, with all the great games out there I am not going to recommend this one to anyone. So try at your own risk. I for one somewhat enjoyed it. This is a 3rd Person Action RPG.
Gameplay: 5/10
It is a hack n’ slash plain and simple. You run around block hit, run around block hit over and over throughout the entire game. You occasionally level up and you can put points into stats to make your character stronger. You find armor, weapons, and spells along the way. This is as basic as an Action RPG can get. Typical stupid Action RPG AI that just run up and keep attacking you. Sometimes I found the AI would get stuck and keep running in one place.
Graphics: 6/10
The graphics are plain but vast. The levels are huge and give you a good sense of your surrounding. The Enemy character models however are pretty bland, but blend in with the rest of the game.
Controls: 5/10
Nothing special here, you jump, block, attack and drink potions. Average controls so I give it an average score.
Sound: 3/10
The sound is very bad. The sound is not much better than the sound you would get from a NES game.
Replay Value: 4/10
I don’t see any reason to go through the game more than once. I did replay each level a few times to further power up my character before advancing to the next stage, which I find was a nice option. Maybe if I get really bored one day I will play it through again.
Comments:
I seen this game for sale at EB for $9.99 Canadian a few years ago, which at the time was super cheap. The game was in mint condition with book and case. I knew for that price it couldn’t be good, but I picked it up anyway just to see how bad it could be. But I actually didn’t mind it. I played through the whole game and it didn’t feel like a chore. I wouldn't mind checking out Shifters which is the sequel to this game.
Buy or Rent?
Well you can buy it for the same cost as to rent it… but chances are now that so many great games are out there, you shouldn’t have any reason to buy this one. Unless like me, you want to see just how bad it is. But you never know you may be one of the very few that will get some enjoyment out of this one.
