Quake III Revolution
Review by samthebigkid
"A good Game but it has some lacking to it"
Quake III Revolution is a good game for the most part. It is pretty fun, but gets boring after so long. If you have friends over a lot then this is a great game for you. But if not, then this will sit not used for a long periods of time. It's an interesting game. It could have had more though.
Graphics- A lacking point it seems. The characters are blocky. The Weapons look so-so. The arenas are decent. Nothing is real extraordinary. Compared to what the PS2 is capable of the graphics aren't really that good. The shooting effects aren't so great. When you're guy levels up and color changes, not much difference is noticeable except for a few changed colors.
Sound- the sound is decent. Once again not anything extraordinary, just ok. There are too few voices in the game. The music is ok. The weapons sound pretty good. And the character Orb sounds funny. But the announcer sounds pretty cool. He's got a low voice that makes the game seem a little more tense. The screams and other random noises sound pretty good. They just could have done more.
Gameplay- Unlike the other Quakes, this is a death match FPS. You go from event to event killing people. You don't have large vast levels with objectives or anything. This is fun for about the first 6 levels. The other 36 get dull and repetitive. After so many levels you gain a level and your character becomes stronger. They also have a slight change in appearance. Then you can use the upgraded character in multi-player. The multi-player is best part. If you can get over the few flaws of the game, multi-player will rock. They have a lot of options to choose from. There a a lot of Weapons in the game which all are pretty cool. They are Gauntlet, Machine gun, Chaingun, Shotgun, Nailgun, Plasmagun, Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher, Lightning Gun, Railgun, and last and not least the BFG-10K. All are sweet weapons that enhance gameplay. Also you can find temporary power ups like Haste (Extra speed) and Quad Damage (4x times normal damage). There are many others. There are many characters in multi-player, but only 5 in single player. In all, It's fun game to say the least.
In conclusion, if you have a few friends and $20 then you should get this game. The controls are simple and easy to learn so you won't need much time learning that. With just a few flaws and varying replay value, I give Quake III Revolution for PS2 a 7/10.
