Amplitude
Review by Douglas R007
"This game is a must buy!"
Welcome to the sequel of FreQuency! Amplitude is the sequel of Frequency (which was released in 2001) and made by the same great team that made Frequency, Harmonix!
What has changed?
Some things have changed in Amplitude. There is now six tracks instead of eight and the freestyler has been changed so that when you activate it, your freestyler covers the whole world. As a matter of fact, the world is now 3D and flat in Amplitude. This can be good and bad for you since switching from the first to last track is harder than it was in FreQuency. Also, the score multiplier doubles the score of the bar you are on, unlike FreQuency where it added 2 to the multiplier(x2 would be x4, etc.). The addition of a Slow-Mo where the BPM is decreased which really helps in high BPM songs (like ''The Rock Show'' and ''Synthesized'').
Song Variety
The music in Amplitude is great and includes atleast one or two songs from each genre of music. You have music from P.O.D, blink-182, Pink, Run DMC, Komputer Kontroller, Garbage, Quarashi, and many more artists in Amplitude! You will be getting into the beat after you play Amplitude for the first few times.
Rating
Music - 10/10
Just like I said in Song Variety, the music has a good catchy beat and you will be enjoying it from the beginning to the very end. Also, the music during the lobby and when you are selecting a song is great also, however the music might get annoying after some time due to the fact the music in the lobby repeats.
Control - 10/10
What's the only buttons you need for Amplitude? The L1, L2, and R2 buttons. Sure, the game ''suggests'' the Triangle, Circle, and Square buttons but you will sure need to switch to the should buttons when you are in Insane mode! The controls in this game run smoothly and are in sync with the beats that are in a song. From bass to synch, the control runs great and sounds great especially in remix mode.
Replay - 8/10
You will be wanting to play the songs over and over again but after some time you might get bored with it. Atleast, remix mode helps you quench your boredom, being able to remix songs from your favorite bands is a great thing. Also, you will be wanting to replay more songs when you begin to play Insane mode and also when you are online. Why on Insane mode? Well, let's just say there are no breaks in any of the songs in Insane mode...
Graphics - 9/10
The graphics is this game are awesome. Sure, graphics don't mean much to a game but when you playing a game that is based on music, you do want some graphics, don't you? Each song in the game enters you inside a different world which contain crazy and sometimes wonderful animations. The beats of the song go in synch with the background which is amazing.
Gameplay - 10/10
In Amplitude, you pretty much have as much freedom to do what you want...you can start a game on any level of difficulty or you can go online (requires Network Adapter) and experience the other players that play this game online. You can also enjoy the remix mode and make custom remixes of your favorite songs. The options are pretty much out there in Amplitude.
Without much else to say, try Amplitude, if you are into mixing songs, you will especially love Amplitude's remix mode. If you are into a song from your favorite band, you will especially love the world that the song is in. Go out and buy Amplitude! You will be missing out if you don't buy this game!
