"An Interesting but odd game."

This game starts off and you take the place of Kain a young adult on a quest. You’re sailing to an island to try to find a girl when suddenly you realize, that theres more to this island than meet the eye. This game is a first person Hack-‘n-Slash game making it kind of awkward. You can also use magic in this game to aid you with stronger monsters.

Control 7/10
The control scheme in this game is pretty odd. Like I said it’s first person and you have one button to attack and one to cast your selected spell. Other than this I think the control a little challenging at first. At the beginning you’ll be falling off cliffs missing enemies and whatnot. This game grows really repetitive and you’ll do similar things and mash that one button so much you’ll be able to play this game in your sleep.

Story 9/10
This game story will leave you hanging to the very end. That’s a good thing and a bad thing. The good part is that it will keep you entertained for the duration of the game. The bad part is it switches up a lot to minor things like finding a small ring in the middle of a huge desert. Aside from this you’ll probably love the story and the side-quests.

Graphics 7/10
Now, I realize that this game came out shortly after the ps2 did. However the graphics were not the least bit what I expected. The backgrounds where chunky the peoples heads looked like squares. And some of the firy animation were just flat-out corny.

Sound 8/10
This had excellent voice acting. The people’s accents varied by village. The music changed in each dungeon and didn’t grow repetitive. The magic was spectacular. All burnings, screaming, punching, etc. were just great.

Replay 5/10
Once you’ve played this game through once you probably won’t want to come back. There aren’t many secrets that you might have missed or anything like that. There is a secret dungeon that most people recommend trying once you complete the game to do that. After you finish that you’ll be ready for the next game.

That pretty much summarizes this game. I would recommend that you skip this one though. I liked it and all but it just didn’t seem worth it. You can probably find it for about 9.99 used but I’d probably buy a game a little more interesting. This game is NOT at all like the Final Fantasy series. I borrowed this game from my friend and he said it was just like except you are only one guy this is not true, don’t fall for that.
