EverQuest Online Adventures
Review by DuckAndCover
"Sony needs to be dummy slapped!"
What the hell is this?! I like mmorpgs and when I found out this was going to be on Playstation 2 I was all for it. I even bought an adapter, mouse, keyboard, and router just to play this game which costed me around 100 dollars. What happened...?
Gameplay[1]
This is a big problem with mmorpgs. Gameplay is non-existent. There is nothing new this game brings to the table, and just like all the other mmorpgs I've played, I got bored really quickly. You will get bored playing this game, and you're probably thinking well mmorpg's aren't about action and you can't change the formula or else the hardcore players will get pissed. Look at this game! Look at it! Look at what they did to it! It's like a red-headed bastard child, pardon the expression if you are one I mean no harm. Now that you've seen how low Sony can go, are you people willing to admit there's a problem with the mmorpg industry? Mmorpgs are dieing, because people are too afraid to evolve passed the turn based combat. People are getting bored, and mmorpg's right now don't appeal to a large number of people, because of this simple problem. I'd never tell somebody I play Anarchy Online, because they probably never heard of it. They slopped through this one by sticking to the same thing everybody else has done, because they're too afraid to try something different. You do need a keyboard and mouse to play this game easier. Guess what though, there's nobody around. It would be rare if you find more than a two person party in this game. Nobody plays this crap! The spells aren't all that interesting either, and they nerfed the hell out of the cleric. That's not all. All you have is a compass to guide your way, and don't try to ask anybody for directions, because they either won't answer you or don't know themselves. There you are, holding down the button to attack, earning small amounts of money, alone and lost. Not my idea of a good time. Only a handful of people play this game, and they'll all leave for Final Fantasy 11 when it comes out for Playstation 2. It's sad, because they could've done something different and unique but they didn't and they just screwed the hell out of themselves.
Graphics[8]
Nice graphics. Nice, but that's not the issue here.
Sound[1]
No music. I just listened to my cd's when I played this game, and that was the only thing I looked forward to was listening to my cd's.
I had a lot of time to think when playing this game- almost like being in jail. I even accidently stumbled upon the evidence that you can arrive at the existence of God through simple logic. If we can believe in cause and effect, what then made our souls? It had to be a perfect being, or else it wouldn't be able to supply complete souls with consciousness to keep up with the birth rate. It had its purpose. Instead of sentencing criminals to death, make them play this god-awful game. It'll force them to think about what they've done. It's that damn boring. I came up with the proof of the existence of God because this game was so boring. I kept wishing my Erudite cleric would blow up mountains or torture enemies with the power of heaven, fly like Matrix, or do karate... Something! Also, you can only use the account key once, and if you cancel the subscription, you must buy another copy of the game to play again. You can't run to Final Fantasy 11, it'll have the same thing too. We just have to wait until Everquest 2 comes out plain and simple, because it seems like that's the game Sony actually used some kind of brain power and effort to really make special.
