James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing
Review by fst249
"No need for drawing your gun at EA any longer!"
Introduction:
EA has tried to come through with many Bond titles to match Rareware's formula for Goldeneye 007. Agent Under Fire and Nightfire both came up a bit short. That brings us to Everything or Nothing. EA decided to change their formula from first person to third person and it paid off. EA has finally come through with a game almost, if not just as good as Goldeneye.
Graphics: 10/10
The people especially Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) who you now will be seeing a lot of since that is who you play as in single player look almost like they do in real life. The guns are quite well designed as they look almost real. The environments are quite well done also. The grass, streets and buildings aren't perfectly smooth and they shouldn't be smooth. Even the gadgets look good, for example Bond's rappel gun looks like it really shoots a rope out and hooks to the ledge you want to climb.
Gameplay: 10/10
For some reason time and time again EA gets the job done where it counts. When you rappel up and down a ledge it feels like your actually doing just that even though its from a third person perspective. When you shoot your guns its not just some little round ball coming out your gun its actual fire and bullets. Then EA also adds the old crouch feature of course so you can hide behind something, but it adds more than that. The dive button allows you not only to dive, but dive into a roll to avoid bullets. Then perhaps one of the most notable things EA adds is the ability to hug a wall or put your back to it then shoot at enemies who don't know you're there just like in James Bond movies. Using gadgets is another strength EA has created, you can now use thermo night vision goggles in dark places, these can be very useful. Then there is the multiplayer mode where EA has struggled the most. In Everything or Nothing EA comes through here as well. Now you can play cooperative by teaming up with another person and taking on very tough AI. Then you have scramble where you compete against your friend to see who can kill the most AI enemies and yet you can still kill your buddy. The the famous arena where its just you against your friends.
Story: 10/10
Even if the story isn't based on a James Bond movie, who says it can't be good? It had me thinking that it was actually based on a movie, that's how good it is. EA was clever enough to create its own Bond mission with all kinds of objectives though the missions are short, there are many. Even EA stuck with the standard Bond movie formula even though they didn't make a movie. You have one extremely evil villain and a few other high class villains, then MI6 on the other side trying to save a few others.
Sound: 8/10
This is the only place that EA needs a little work on. Some of the music is just plain bad, but what keeps the score so high is the sound of the weapons, gadgets, cars, tanks, and helicopters. There is nothing like hearing a sniper go off and see someone fall that is at a distance. Then the gadgets such as the Q spider which just makes a sound so perfect you'd think there was a metal spider in the ceiling above. The vehicles also have realistic sounds keeping the sound at an 8/10.
Replay: 10/10
Who can get enough of a good Bond game? I know I've been playing Goldeneye for over 5 years, so how long will EoN last you. Well I'd say until the next great Bond game. Going back for more on 00 agent difficulty after beating agent is almost a must do. If you want to get your full money's worth of the game and more you'll need to play at least twice through the missions.
Final Recommendation:
Go buy it as soon as you can because its one of the best Bond games out there. Even if its $50 its well worth the money. The only problem you may be facing after buying the game is laziness to do anything other than playing it.
