Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home

"Don't believe the hype."

So there I was,in Blockbuster. Looking at the carnage from the drunken frat boys that lay before me. They had rented all the good games. There wasn't even a ''Smackdown Here come the Pain left''. It was truly a tragic moment. So I look and I see the newly shipped Backyard wrestling games. I was so happy that I would be able to rent a new game. I'd seen the commercials and I thought it would be a good game. Then I came home and was devastated at what I saw...

Graphics:7/10

The graphics in this game very pretty bad. The stages very ok,but where the game totally messed up was the character designs. They all looked so basic and none of them had any personality in them whatsoever. They were pretty much the same,except they had different specials and costumes.

Sound:8/10

I think the sound in this game is the only thing that saves this game from being horrible. They have some good songs in it from bands like Bowling for Soup and Sum 41.
I enjoyed the sound in this game. They had some other good songs too that I can't remember at the moment.

Story:8/10

The game's story mode is actually a bit interesting. It has some sort of talk show effect. I'm not gonna ruin it for you,but it's really creative. You're probably gonna like it.

Controls:7/10

The controls in this game are pretty bad. The special moves are hard to pull off. I could never do any of them,. The only time I did a special move was with Sabu,and it was by accident. I didn't even know how I did it. The grapples and other things are pretty hard to do to. Most of the time you'll be button-mashing. But that's not a bad thing tough.

Gameplay:7/10

The gameplay was pretty bad. I think this game had the worst Create-A-Wrestler in a game I've ever seen. The wrestler you create looks very generic. There isn't much of a choice of clothes either. This is probably the worst part of the game.

Overall:7/10

This game was not what expected. I thought it would be better. The commercials makes the game look better than what it really is. You can get the game if you want. This review is an opinion after all. This is just what I thought of it. I hope you find this opinion helpful. If not then I can't blame you. my reviews aren't that good any way,but hey,I'm man enough to admit that.
