EverQuest Online Adventures
Review by Dude Love Fan
"Maybe the term "Evercrack" is an apt description after all."
Introduction:
While I have given many perfect reviews, EQOA is one of the most deserving that I have ever given out(just like Final Fantasy VIII). Everquest came out on the PC five years ago, and last year it made it's way to the PS2 and gave PS2 players a chance to play an excellent MMORPG(massively multiplayer online role playing game). Since the launch of EQOA, and expansion has been released to better the game and the world of Norrath as a whole. Now I will delve into the core aspects of the game.
Graphics: 8/10
While you may be saying, "An 8, i mean come on", I do it with good reason. While the graphics won't blow you away, they will grow on you over time. It can safely be said that EQOA is not a beautiful game, it is however a nice looking game that is just huge. The reason I score the graphics so high is due to the fact that there is no loading. The only loading you will experience after you enter the game is when either you die, or transport to another town. On foot though, the game never stops to load. You could trek for an hour and a half from Halas tou Qeynos, and never see a loading screen. So, thanks to the massiveness of the game I give it a high score.
Sound 7:10
While the sound is not bad, there just isn't much of it. You do have the option to play battle music, but I prefer the sound of battle itself. I give the sound a high score as there is some ambient sound, and it doesn't get old even after hours of play(which you WILL be investing). So due to the foresight of giving little sound to help in the replay value, I think the sound deserves a 7.
Gameplay: 15/10
While I know I cant give that high a score, I do anyway because it is that good. You cannot know how great killing monsters repetitively with other people can be until you experience it yourself. Not only can you quest and kill you can make a guild, fish, and make armor and weapons for other people, which is awesome. SO you will get your moneys worth when you buy this game.
Control: 10/10
I included this section because I feel that it translated well from a PC to a PS2. I think the best addition to the console version is the ability to have macros, or quick access commands that you can customize. For example, one of mine will say, "Man, (whoever I am targeting) you got served!" or my personal favorite that I saw someone use, "It's okay, (whoever they are targeting), I had Subway."
Overall: 10/10
I feel that any one who enjoys MMORPGS should pick this up right now. You will not regret it. I give thanks to Sony for putting this out and blessing us all with such a great game. I have heard many people use the term, Evercrack, but you don't realize you are addicted until your parents force you to go for a walk or they will take your games.
OOOWWWW Have Mercy!!!
