Resident Evil: Dead Aim
Review by AJM Ruler
"100 times better than the first Survivor"
This is a review for Resident Evil: Dead Aim for the Playstation 2. When I heard that the storyline Resident Evil games were going to be Gamecube only, I thought the Resident Evil series on the Playstation 2 would end with Resident Evil: Code Veronica X. Boy was I wrong, with the 4th installment, yes the 4th, of the Gun Survivor series. And trust me, the first 3 were NOT pretty to look at. But with Dead Aim out, this is going to change for the Playstation 2 owners all around. Get ready for some action on a cruise ship.....
Graphics: (9) Looking a lot better than Code Veronica X, Dead Aim looks fantastic. So realistic this game is that I thought I was on an actual cruise ship. Really good graphics but could NEVER compare to the Resident Evil (Remake) and Resident Evil 0 on the Gamecube, the Playstation 2 hardware can never make Dead Aim look as good as those two terrific games. What I found disappointing was the fact the zombies looked kind of stale and only had a few different versions. Hunters on the other hand never looked better. Even the character models of Bruce and Fong look nice as well.
Sound: (9) Classic Resident Evil music is being played here. Haunting sounds this game has, and surprisingly holds up strong to previous Resident Evil games. I think the voice-acting in this game has improved over other installments of the series. Bruce never sounded so cowboy-ish. And Fong is supposed to be like Asian I think, and an American voice-actor is her. So disappointed I was.....to find that out.
Game Play: (9) Unlike the first Survivor, this game isn't totally in first person. When fighting you go into first person, but when you are moving about the character is in 3rd person, which I think is a GREAT improvement over the first Survivor. (This game plays a lot like the GBC Resident Evil called Gaiden, same game play strategies and both games are on cruise ships!) When in first person, you are given a cross hair and I suggest to aim at the zombies head for some good results. Though I have never played with a Guncon, I heard its a lot more enjoyable. What made this game disappointing was the fact I beat this game in under 2 hours and 30 minutes.....on my first try.
Storyline (If any): (9) You play the role as Bruce, a cowboy-ish guy who at the beginning is held at gun point! What a way to start a Resident Evil game. Bruce also meets up with a girl by the name of Fong, which she almost kills Bruce when they first meet. Much surprises this game as, so tune in when you play this actually good Survivor game.
Summary: (9) For Playstation 2 owners who want a Resident Evil game to play....look no further, but if your expecting re-playability don't look further because this game is done and over with once you beat it. Hard-core Resident Evil gamers should easily like this game like I did.
