Forever Kingdom

Review by incaz

"Underrated and underappreciated!"

There are a lot of bad reviews about this 2-year old game, so I just thought I'd put in my two cents. I thought this game was original and the storyline unique. Of course it can't compare to the likes of FFX or , as many people don't have the patience this game sometimes takes.

Graphics (8/10): The graphics were decent, with vibrant colors, nice atmosphere, and some great shadowing. It fit the game well, especially the environments, they were gorgeous.

Sound (9/10): HUGE thumbs up from me here. The background music was excellent and original, a game where I have more than once, could just watch and listen to the music. Although the sound effects were your average "clank, scrape" etc. Not a bad thing. Voice acting was below average and the subtitles sometimes mispelt, something that was easily overlooked by me.

Gameplay (9/10): I thought it was original and a bit of a risk, since some RPG fans are not accustomed to this sort of gameplay. Yes, an RPG where you don't just slap on some armor, you've actually got to think a bit when equipping armor, or yes, you will probably DIE IN ONE HIT, to an element you're very weak against. Another plus from me is fact that different equipment is shown on you. Nice eye candy, so you're not always looking at the same guy runnin' around :) This does not always work for every RPG, but does for this one. Next thing, you do not level up, just your accessories and armor if you decide to upgrade it using palmira pieces. Some people don't like the idea of a soul bar, where three people share one life. Why? I found that more than 95% of the time, the player causes his own death. Your allies defend much better than you, though you will have to do most of the damage in fights =/ My only complaint is that movement was sometimes unresponsive, and your character would just stop and go, other than that, great gameplay.

Story (9/10): The story is original, but most importantly, not a save-the-world story. Well, for the most part. The way the story is told is not spectacular, but get's the job done. It was interesting and well-thought out to say the least, though I have never played EverGrace, so I did not get the full experience :)

Replay Value (2/10): None really, but most RPGs have none anyways. You might want to play it twice for the extra stuff, though it will no-doubt get boring.

Overall (9/10): It's worth a shot, you might like it, you might not. I think it brings/revives quite a few new things and it's not just the classic RPG format that we've all become accustomed to.
