Showdown: Legends of Wrestling

"It's time for another Showdown, Brother!"

Showdown: Legends of Wrestling for the x-box gives a classic feel to it. This game boasts over 60 legends of the ring from 1960's to the 1990's. People like Bret "the Hitman" Hart, (R.I.P.) Owen Hart, Ultimate Warrior, Sting, Hulk Hogan, Diamond Dallas Page, and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Of course there are more, I just named my favorites. Plus all the superstars have four different attires to choose from. This game actually did better than what I thought. I had heard bad things from people like my brother (whose opinion is nothing more than a monkey terd). I enjoyed this game very much. so read on and see if this game holds up to your standards.
Presentation 8/10

This game does quite well bringing you into the classic experience of watching wrestling. The entrances are done well. Of course presentation maybe the strong point, it is still pretty damn good.

Gameplay 8/10

Now the gameplay has some bugs that need to be worked out but for the most part, it's pretty good too. The Showdown challenge mode is a little weak but still fun. You start out in the seventies, then the eighties, then finally, the nineties. You have five matches per era. The fifth match of each era is with a title match for the era champion. Then after the nineties, you fight someone for the Showdown Championship Title. It is still fun but it gets annoying after the seventies. Then there is the Classic matches. It is a tournament of classic matches that you need to end differently. There are fifteen different matches to beat. Nothing at the end to work for but still fun none the less.

Sound 7/10

The Rock style anthems of this game are pretty cool to listen to. Some of the wrestlers theme are close but are not exact. Some like Hogan's are exact.

Lasting Appeal 5/10

Multiplayer could be fun if you have friends. the single player is a little lonely but still fun. You cna go through the Showdown Challenge but it may get boring. You redo some of the classic matches.

Buy or Rent

I suggest you rent it. Now you may have fun with this and think you will want to buy it, that's fine. But you'll go through the Showdown Challenge and the Classic Matches before you take it back. So keep that in mind. Well by now you should have made up your mind but if not. Keep this in mind with the many other things i have told to keep in mind. This really is only for the classic wrestling fans. If the like the current WWE you may still like this but not as much.
