Spider-Man 2
Review by bReAkBoY
"The sky is no longer the limit"
Introduction:
This is the sequel to the previous game, Spider-Man: The Movie. Now with several new and fun features, including absolute web-swinging freedom! You are Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and New York City is your responsibility.
Gameplay: 9/10
First off, the funnest thing ever to do in this game is web-swing around the city. The city is HUGE, the buildings are TALL, and you can travel to real-world locations including Lady Liberty, Times Square, even to the top of the Empire State Building!
But besides having fun jumping rooftop to rooftop, there's also tasks the must be done: stopping crime and saving citizens. You have a radar that directs you to people in need of help, whether they are being assaulted or are in distress. NYC will never rest, so there's always a job for Spider-Man.
But wait! There's even MORE things to do than stop crime and and rescue citizens. You can get jobs from the Daily Bugle to take pictures of the NYC skyline, you can deliver pizza, and MANY "more mini-jobs."
Story: 8/10
Well, assuming you saw the movie, Spider-Man 2, I would assume you have a general idea of what the game is going to be about. The game does go forth with the movie, but with some alterations and addictions. Without trying to spoiling anything, I'll tell you now that you meet some new and old characters.
Graphics: 7/10
Character detail isn't so impressive, but you can live with it. The most detail was put into the NYC environment, including the window reflections off buildings and cars, and the mood of the city(which changes day to night during gameplay). There's also some 3D cut scenes in between missions, but nothing special. Once cool thing the game does is that whenever Spider-Man jump off high buildings or swings really fast, everything becomes a blur, emphasizing the speed, which is pretty cool.
Sound/Music: 7/10
If you hear it in the movie, it's in the game. Everything from the web squirting out of Spider-Man's wrist to the sound of wind blowing as you swing around the city. Cars honk and people have conversations sometimes you manage to find one. And the music is mostly instrumental, just like in the movie.
Playtime/Replayability: 8/10
There's to games in once in Spider-Man 2: completing the story mode and completing all the "mini-jobs." Both of which are about 50% of the entire game. Story mode is fairly short (I beat it in 8 or so hours) but the hundreds "mini-jobs" will keep you busy for a few more hours. Trust me, it takes time to find icons scattered throughout a real-time scale of NYC.
Overall: 8/10
If you're crazy for Spider-Man, go buy this, otherwise stick to a rental. Story mode is short, maybe takes 2-3 days max to beat. But if you're aiming for 100%, that's a few more days, or maybe weeks. I personally like this game a lot, mainly because swinging around is addicting!
