The Simpsons Skateboarding

"D'oh!"

The Simpsons has been one of my favorite cartoon shows since I was a kid. In addition, the videogames haven't been too bad either. Road Rage and Hit and Run were solid games. The other day I saw Simpsons Skateboarding at a used game store. I picked it up figuring it would be a good game. Boy, what a mistake. To put it as simple as I can, this game is terrible.

Why do I think it is so bad? Well because of the gameplay. The controls are terrible, it is impossible to pull off your moves, and that camera is very very annoying.

The story is pretty terrible too. Apparently there is a Skateboarding Tour coming to Springfield. The grand prize, $99. Wow, I know big pay off. Still most Simpsons games don't have the best stories, but still this is the worst.

The graphics are O.K. The backgrounds are decent, but the Simpsons look really stupid in 3D. Homer is the worst. Why? Well he's almost as thin as Marge. Simpsons fans know that this is just wrong. As for the sound. It's fine but gets very repetitive, and you learn to hate it.

As for the games replay value, there could be tons of it in this game. Notice how I said "could". Well there are lots of hidden characters and hidden game boards. The problem is the tasks to unlock them are almost impossible to pull off, so it's quite likely that you'll never unlock anything. This is sad because honestly there could be lots of replay value hear.

In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone. Not only is it very boring, but because of the bad controls, it is very difficult. The only thing keeping me from giving this game a 1/10 is the fact that the Simpsons are in it, and well, the Simpsons are cool. Sadly, that is the only positive in the game. Don't buy, don't rent, just avoid. As Homer would say, "D'oh!"
