"Your every day generic action / platformer"
Spanx and Redmond are your normal lad experiments. They get loose in the lab and a voice from above tells them they need to escape. It's an alright story. Nothing exciting but it does work. Of course if it's higher than E rating means it alienates it's target audience.
The control is simple and very easy to get the hang of. Simple button smashing ect. Any age could elarn how to play the game. I did find scurrying up rails to be a bit off at times due to the camera.
The voice acting is so-so. Not exciting, kind of generic. Sound effects and music feel the same way. Plain ole generic.
The graphics are so-so. The cutscenes look poor. In game graphics are decent even thought they do have a generic feel to them. Nothing to write home about, that's for sure
Gameplay is your normal platformer / beat-em up. Fighting is button mashing. You can destroy almost everything in sight. Enemy AI is dim at best. puzzles are easy since the game obviously points them out to you. Levels are bland and boring. Using Spanx to catch fire or freeze is funny but it wears thin, as does rest of the humor in the game and when it's the main selling point, that's a bad thing.
Replay value is low, nothing special to unlock. No secrets to keep you coming back. Heck, owning the demo would be best since you can just play it for a quick level and then stop since the game gets old after playing a couple of levels.
Whiplash is fun but only to a point. A quick rental at the most but if you're not interested in it that much then just skip it because there are better games out there. It does have it good moments, don't get me wrong but it just felt like a bargain title all around and since it isn't at a bargin price, then it's not worth the money. Rent it if you must but don't let the game companys keep pushing this generic stuff on us, we all know they can do much better than this.
