The Adventures of Cookie & Cream
Review by GGAGAHC
"Yay!! A Good Co-Op Game!!!!!"
I love multiplayer games. If you look at my game collection, you'll see that a lot of them are multiplayer. After all, the best gaming experience is with family/friends. However, a lot of multiplayer games pit us against each other. I mean, I do like to beat up my cousins in a wrestling game every now and then but I really enjoy co-op games the most because then you don't spark up family feuds. That's why I was really glad a co-op PUZZLE game came out for the console we all like to call the PS2.
Let's start out with the basics. The graphics in this game are all nice. They're cute, but they're nice and I like em a lot. You've got Cookie and you've got Cream and they both look really good. There's not a lot that I can complain about when it comes to the graphics. After all, they're not HORRIBLE. The sound, too is nice. Just like the graphics, the music is cute to some extent. Lastly, the story itself is non-violent so I'll describe it with "cute." That's what this game is. It's cute. Some people might not like all the cuteness but I don't mind it one bit.
Now, let's move on. The controls are simple enough. There's not so much that needs to be done in Cookie and Cream. Wait...no, scratch that. I mean, there's not a lot of confusing button pressing in this game (controller wise). You know what? Forget it. Let's just get to the point. The controls are simple. You just use the analog stick and your shoulder buttons. Easy right? Very. When you're playing by yourself, you've got to control both those dastardly rabbits so you have to use both the analog sticks. This brings me to my next topic: Gameplay.
The gameplay is very nice. I like it. This game is split screen multiplayer fun. Ok, well, never mind. You see, this is all about co-op. So for example, let's say Cookie needs to cross the water. Well, it's just water and that rabbit can't jump that far. Hello! Cream! Help, please! So Cream has to get Cookie across the water. Let's see. There are logs here... So Cream pushes the logs to Cookie's side, thus creating a bridge. Now Cookie can jump across and the two can continue on. See? Co-op! There are numerous obstacles like these that the two must overcome. By yourself, it's hard, it really is. After all, you are controlling two rabbits with one controller. But with a friend, that's when this game truly shines! Not only do you now have an extra brain to help on finding a solution for those difficult puzzles, but you've also got another person to control Cookie or Cream so you don't have to deal with controlling two characters. Of course, this is a co-op game so play with someone who can cooperate with you. ^_^
Now, for difficulty, this game really isn't hard. It really isn't. Maybe by yourself it's hard but c'mon. What game isn't hard by yourself? No, don't answer that. The point is, by yourself, the game can get a little CHALLENGING (I'm not going to use the word difficult) but it's not frustrating. However, with a friend, the game is just right. It's not too easy but it has just lost all of it's challenges of playing by yourself. So if you're going to play this game (which I highly recommend), do find a friend to play with. By the way, there is a 4 player multiplayer mode. It's not co-op, though, but hey, what're you gonna do about it? So, I recommend you buy this game. After all, by now (it's 2004 so I'm reviewing this game a bit late...), you can get a used copy for about $10 which is a lot better than $50.
Thank you for your time and I hope my review has made you want to get this game!
