Blade II
Review by tectactoe
"Did I Accidently Hit Rewind?"
So get this - you're a vampire hunter... and you hunt vampires... and kill them... and that's pretty much all you do, besides being bossed around by a guy who looks older than the Eiffel Tower.
I happened to get my hands on this game a few months ago, for cheaper than normal. It had been out for a while. I paid neigh $24.99, and even with this cheap tag (for a PS2 game) I was all but satisfied. The reason I bought this game was because I did enjoy the Blade movies, so I thought this game would be alright. I was terribly mistaken.
Graphics: 8/10
No qualm here. Probably about the only good part in the game. The graphics are what made me even bother with this. The people, or vampires, look semi-real and not blocky and misformed. The way the vampires shrivel up isn't bad lookin' either.
Sound: 5/10
The sound is kind of blah. The fighting action, and the blades, and the cars, and the voices sound good, but the music is just really annoying. It's like a 20 second song that's being played on a loop. Not to mention every time you get your blade meter up. hearing him yell "BLADE!" with an unneccissary echo is really annoying the first few times, and REALLY annoying the 45th or 46th time.
Control: 3/10
The PS2 made their control awesome. It feels good, is big enough, yet not too big, and all of the buttons are right at your fingertips. Yet this game makes me want to saw my controller in half, with its confusing controls and terrible attack engine, this games controls make me sick, even with the good controller. I couldn't imagine this game on an XBOX controller.
Replay Value: 1/10
This game is painful enough to go through once, and twice would make bamboo chutes under my fingernails look fun. The levels are all the same, get here, kill these people, destroy this... it gets old. Fast. Lighting fast.
I don't mean to sound like I am just bashing the game, but it's hard to find any good points, really. After you've made it to the fourth stage, and after you realized that you've seen the same mini-fighting cut-scene about 30 times, you will realize what I'm talking about.
Average/Overall: 4/10
Buy or Rent: RENT
Price It's Worth: $7.99 at best
