Inuyasha: The Secret of the Cursed Mask
Review by Yugioh2010
"A Feudal Paradise!"
For Inuyasha fans, such as myself, this is a must-get-or-die-at-the-hands-of-Naraku. About that part after the must-get, I was joking about that. Anyways... this is the ultimate fantasy for every Inuyasha fan out there in the world. If Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale for the PS1 was good, this game is better, 10 fold!
Gameplay: Sure, the camera always stays at one spot, but doesn't it always in RPGs like Final Fantasy? Still, despite that one problem I found, this game is a blast to play. Being able to get to know your favorite characters better and start friendships (and relationships) with them, that is a fantasy that I would die for. To be able to be friends with Inuyasha.
Sound: To me, the best part of the game. Sure the voice acting may be bad, but trust me, it's worth it. Listen close to the voices. That's the ACTUAL voices of the characters from the Inuyasha ANIME English series being shown on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network! That really makes it worth every cent I paid for this game. BANDAI, very, very good job at finding the US voice actors. EXTREMELY good job!
Graphics: Sure, the graphics don't look all too impressive, but who cares! Inuyasha really couldn't look any better! The animations for the Co-op attacks are extremely well done. The character stills are absolutely gorgeous, and the in-game stills are very, very, very cool! Worth a look in my view.
Story: Another one of the best parts of the entire game. The story really gets funny, sad, angry (of course, since Naraku's in it!) etc. I've currently finished 5 of the 11 different endings in the game, and each and every one of those endings really got me crying. It's so touching...
Challenge: This is one of the things that got me here. It's challenging, and not so challenging. Sure, some of the battles in the game are hard, but the others are basically a joke. Random battles happen at anytime if you are not in a village, city, or town, and that gets really annoying, really fast.
Replay value: As I said earlier, this game has 11 different endings for the two Kururugi children (male and female main characters) the female has 6 and the male has 5. Each one has the five main Inuyasha character endings, but the female also has another ending, Sesshomaru's! Plus the fact that there are a lot of mysterious field events, a lot of intervals with your favorite characters, still pictures from the game, and the Co-op attack battle movies can all be unlocked definitely makes you want to play the game again, and again, and again...
Faults: As I said, the game suffers from the challenge setting, but a major flaw I saw in the game that didn't effect me much was the spelling. Honestly, who wrote the in-game script, huh? Second graders? Come on. Surely you know how to spell! Sheesh. That probably will change a lot of people's minds right there, but not me.
Overall: This game has been my favorite Anime game of all time ever since the second day it came out when I bought it at my local Gamestop and I can't stop playing it! Plus it comes with a bonus. A Inuyasha Trading Card Game Promo Card! Seems like Yu-Gi-Oh isn't the only game in town that gives away cards now. But still this game isn't for everyone, but Inuyasha fanatics, myself included, now's your chance to finally get to know your favorite characters, including Inuyasha (no you won't be able to find out why he's so cranky now and then...) better. This is a MUST-GET for fans.
