"Solid racer, excellent price"

Introduction

Corvette is a game by Global Star Software and Steel Monkeys. It offers a great variety of tracks and Corvettes. The Corvettes in the game go back to 1953, and the game was made for a 50th Anniversary.

Chapter 1: Gameplay

Game Modes: 9/10

The modes in the game will be listed below and each will have a description.

Arcade Mode

In arcade mode, you race a series of tracks while using a certain class Corvette. The classes are arranged according to year. In this mode you can unlock vehicle colors as well as tracks for multiplayer and quick race. This is one of the main modes.

Quick Race

If you don't feel like racing in a series, you can go to quick race. Choose your Corvette, choose your track, and have fun. Another main mode.

Career Mode

In this mode, you start out with a Corvette and compete through a series of races to unlock more series. This mode is similar to arcade, but it is different as you can upgrade your car with points. Points are acquired by getting a certain place in a race. Like arcade, you also can unlock tracks for quick race and multiplayer, and also unlock vehicle colors.

Special Modes

These are modes that you unlock during Career. The modes include Hot Lap Challenge, Custom 'Vette Challenge, Circuit Endurance, Route 66 Checkpoint, and Mother Road Endurance.

Multiplayer Mode

If you want to race with a friend, this is the place. Multiplayer Mode offers split screen action to compete with other people. The point of multiplayer is to see who is the fastest racer, you or your friend.

Controls/Handling: 9/10

The controls in this game are very good. Like most other racers, you have accelerate, brake, reverse, and other options. Handling is fairly easy, except the brakes should have been done a little better.

Variety: 10/10

This game offers a lot of variety in the tracks and Corvettes. It features every Corvette since 1953. If you think about it, thats a lot. Also, it has a huge selection of tracks. This game has more tracks than a lot of other racers.

Difficulty: 8/10

The difficulty starts out really easy, but gets harder as you go along. It matches pretty good with the game, and thats what matters. But note, 8/10 doesn't mean its 8/10 hard, it means 8/10 matching with the game.

Chapter 2: Graphics and Camera

Graphics: 9/10

The graphics offered in Corvette are very impressive. Its one the the best racers if it all came down to graphics. Clean and crisp, with very few errors and streams. Quite impressive for a company no ones ever heard of.

Camera: 7/10

The camera is pretty good, and offers a huge selection of views, but it has some flaws. When you go really fast, around top speed, it shakes, which can get annoying. And sometimes when you turn, it doesn't keep up. Everything else though is pretty good.

Chapter 3: Sound

Sound Effects: 8/10

Sound Effects are pretty good. You get sounds when you crash into other people, crash into walls, etc. Your engine also makes noise, which makes it seem realistic. And the sound is crisp too, so it gets an 8.

Music: 8/10

Like the Sound Effects, the music is of great quality. While the menus do have music, it gets pretty boring fast. The background music while racing is usually pretty good, and can get you pumped for racing.

Chapter 4: Conclusion

Buy or Rent

If you are a racing fan, this is definitely a buy. Its retail price averages $10, and if you are lucky, you may find it in a bargain bin for $5 or so. If you are really lucky, you'll find the 3 pack, which includes this, Ford Racing 2, and Super Trucks Racing all for $10.

Summary

Corvette is a racing game made for the 50th Anniversary of Corvettes. It is a solid racer for all three current platforms, and any racing fan or Corvette fan should purchase this game. Thank you for your time.
