Star Wars: Battlefront
Review by SCVA_ACE
"A must have for all Star Wars fans!"
Introduction: Star Wars Battlefront is a First Person Shooter for the PS2, XBOX, and PC, I played it on the PS2. First off, let me just say that this game lets you play all the Star Wars battles! From Tattooine to Cloud City, you will be covered from head to toe in raging Star Wars battles.
Audio: This game is made by Lucas Arts; therefore, I think it is safe to say that we were expecting alot from the audio department, and that's exactly what we recieved. From the Wookie battle cry, to the sound of a fellow comrade yelling "Grenade!" The Audio department didn't dissapoint me at all!
Controls: The controls may take some getting used to, even though you can set your own sensitivity level, your gun always feels heavy and it becomes hard to aim fast enough if your enemy is 5 feet to your right. If you hold the left analog stick left or right and hit the X button, your character will do a diving roll, which is very handy when you're in a firefight. The controls in the Mechs are fantastic; although, some of the mechs go very slowly. The X-Wings and AT-ATs have fantastic control but can be destroyed VERY easily.
Gameplay: Star Wars Battlefront gives you the ability to choose from 4 sides; Rebels, imperials, clone troopers, or battle droids. All of which consist of a wide variety of soldiers. These soldiers come with their own weapons and unique abilities such as; rocket launchers, sniper rifles, assault rifles, grenade launchers and many more. Some of the abilities include being able to do a "super-jump", fly for a certain time, or dispense health and ammo. Ammo and health are very easy to find, considering there are re-fill droids placed all around the map. The main objective of the game: capture command posts! You do this by securing an area with a command post and standing there until your meter fills green and then the post becomes yours. This can get very repetitive after a while which is the main flaw of the game. You may be wondering "Do I just fight forever until I capture all the command posts?" In a word, no. Each team starts out with a certain number of reinforcements. When one man is killed, that man respawns after he dies and one reinforcement is lost. This continues until you or the eney run out of reinforcements. Lets not forget.......
Multiplayer: In multi-player mode, up to sixteen players can compete in massive online battles. The menu screens for the mulitiplayer can be very frustrating and it is almost impossible to find a friend; however, you can download the patches that help tremendously but should you really have to? Multi-player is the same as single player, but with real people. This area is lacking somewhat
Overall: Overall, Battlefront is in the top 3 best Star Wars games and should not be neglected by any Star Wars or First Person Shooter fan. There are a few flaws and the gameplay gets repetitive but this is one great game that is worth the $50.
