Star Wars: Battlefront
Review by bluehawk102
"Really good Star Wars game..."
Star Wars came out in the late 1970s and since then there has been a ton of games. Some games were pretty good but most of them were kind of bad, at least the ones I played. Battlefront offers you, the player, the chance to fight in the battles you see in the movies. It is divided up where it is the Rebels versus the Empire and then The Republic versus the Seperatist or whatever they call themselves. More is mentioned in the review:
Gameplay:(8/10)
The game is based off Battlefield 1942 except in Star Wars form. You pick an era you want to fight in and fight the battles accordingly. One minute you play as bad the next you play as good. This is only one part of gameplay, there are others that let you have more choice. Anyway, you fight in pretty decent sized levels when you start off. They are pretty big when you play as say a Stormtrooper but when you pilot a vehicle then they feel too small. So, you are tossed in a battle usually 200 vs. 200 and you have to either capture all checkpoints or just killing everyone on your side. More often than not you will be killing everyone instead of getting checkpoints. You also have a small choice of characters to play as(Wookie, Pilot, etc.) depending on your side. All are pretty balanced so one side will not have the upperhand. I did not get to test out online play but I hear it has its problems and I did not have a second dual shock controller so I could not test out two player. Instead, I played only single player and overall it was good. Sometimes you may get tired of playing certain parts, I do not really like how the vehicles worked out in this game but you do not have to pilot them. Galatic Conquest is another fun single player game where you have to dominate the galaxy one planet at a time. The main problem is it being too repetitive but you may find yourself playing a battle from time to time.
Sound/Audio:(9/10)
Pretty good. Some sounds tend to repeat themselves but it is not bad. Good music, also. Not much else to say here. It is not bad really.
Graphics:(9/10)
Really good graphics. Well not the best on the PS2 but they are really good. Nothing crappy here for sure.
Controls(8/10)
Easy to use. It may take awhile to learn vehicle controls but nothing too hard. You could get the hang of everything in half an hour.
Buy or Rent:
This is a rental game for sure. You can beat it and everything within a rental period. This would still be good to own because you can get a nagging feeling of wanting to shoot up a couple of Gungans after seeing The Phantom Menace. It is up to you. I know if you buy it it is not a bad choice. Rent/10
Pros:
-Good Quality
-Nice Gameplay
-Levels
-Graphics
-Battles are AWESOME
Cons:
-Repetitive
-Repetitive
-Repet--just kidding.
-Vehicles are not that great
Conclusion:
This is a pretty great game. One of my favorite Star Wars games. I would like to see a sequel because there is so much to improve on and if they do that than we can see a really great Star Wars game. Overall, I like this game and I think any Star Wars fan will like it to. What is not to like about shooting Ewoks?
