Battle Assault 3 featuring Gundam Seed
Review by DarkCloudB
"Enjoy doing all those long quests from Final Fantasy games? Here's a game to test your patience!"
Hello, first off let me say that I was never a real Gundam fan until I watched Gundam Wing. It was a great series and since then no Gundam series were able to top Gundam Wing, however Gundam SEED had done it and was truly amazing. As for Gundam Battle Assault 3: Featuring Gundam SEED, this game depends on how patience you are. I will grade this game in these categories: Gameplay, Graphics, Replayability, Music/Sound, and Fun Factor/Difficulty.
Gameplay: First off this is no ordinary Gundam Battle Assault Game. The past two games were good, but were somewhat disappointing and even a child could easily smash buttons to win the game. However, it seems that Ban Dai, has made this game different. Instead of just two mechs fighting one another side scrolling, you now get a 3D envionment (though limited space) along with more combos for each mobile suit. I give the gameplay a 8/10
Graphics: Well what would you expect of Playstation 2? The graphics are good and nicely detailed and the background looked as if they were real. With the buildings/rocks etc. playing a role in the game, it truly makes the game more diverse in a stage. As for graphics I give this a 9/10
Replayability: Well this ia fighting game so there should be alot of things to unlock and different modes to try. Unlike the previous games; Battle Assault 3 requires you to unlock modes such as Time Trial. Survival Mode, Tag Team Mode, by finishing the game in Story mode first. However, because the story mode has changed and you can pick which stage you wish to participate in(sometimes), this truly adds a replayability value. This area of the game scores 10/10.
Music/Sound: Alright this area is going to be a very difficult part to grade for me. Why? The American Voice overs were terrible and they sounded as if they were reading off of some paper in class or something. The background music were decent, but the only reason why this area in the game would go up would be the opening movie as they stuck with "Invoke" the first opening theme from the anime. Personally I had hope that they would use the 4th opening "Realize" instead, but with the American version of the show sticking to the 1st opening and ending song throughout the show, I wasn't surprised. If there was an option to set the American voice overs back to Japanese actors, then this would have a higher score, but they didn't so I would give this area a 2/10.
Fun Factor/Difficulty: Alright is this game fun? Well that depends, if you want a challenge in fighting games here it is. This game is insanely difficult at some points while others are extremely easy. As you progress through the game you will get time limit to defeat certain amount of enemies and have two or more enemies jump you in a endurance match during story mode. Basicaly this is like Dragonball Z Budokai 2 all over again. However, it is a fun game in the end. I would give this a 7/10.
Overall: 8 + 9 +10 + 2 + 7 = 36/50 which is about .72 rounded down to 7/10.
