"An answer to all the platform haters."

The Rayman series started off with a less than stellar side scroller. Recent installments, such as Rayman 2, and the game I'm reviewing right here, have made me a huge fan.

Gameplay

It's a platformer. If you're like me, you love platformers, And Rayman 3 is a super nova among stars. You run, jump, throw your fists (!) and turn yourself into a helicopter, all to reach the end of imagined, moderately difficult levels. You can grab power ups throughout all of the levels of the game. Gauntlets, chains, Tornado fists, and rockets are a few of the upgrades you need to utilize to complete the game. The camera angles, the bane that plagues all patformers is annoying at times, but seldom, if at anytime gets in the way of completing your goals.

Story

The story for Rayman 3 is freakishly brilliant. You play as Rayman, an odd little fellow, who has no limbs. Raymans friend Globox has swallowed a black lum! (Uh Oh) And it's up to you to get him to a doctor. Other Black Lums impede your quest to try and rescue there leader caught in the gullet of your friend.

One thing I have to say is, I don't usually laugh at videogames, but this game is genuinely funny. Andre will have to 'roffling' your 'waffle' and Globox's silly comments made me giggle like a schoolgirl on helium. Murfy has is back as well. Though only at the beginning of the game for a short while, You'll be wishing he would of stuck around.

Graphics/Sound

The graphics and animation in this game are a treat. The characters are all animated brilliantly. The levels are lush, detailed, and have a wide array of environments.

The Sound is where Rayman really shines. The music will have you bobbing your head, while the sound effects have you smiling. The voices all fit the characters as well. It was a real treat just listening to the characters talk. You gotta' love Globox's voice.

Play Time/Replayability

You could probably beat Rayman in a ten hour time period, possibly less. I enjoyed taking in the scenery.

Sadly this is where Rayman lacks. Hardly any replayability. Sure you can go back and try to get better scores on all the levels, but it's just not as fun the second time around. You should rent it, unless you Really love this game.

Final Recommendation

This game is most definitely worth playing for any videogame fan. Whether you like platformers or not, Rayman is an all around fantastic game, and a must play.
