Review by cycoclops

"Great game, but has several flaws."

Mercenaries: Playground of destruction. One of the best games I own there. This game is a combination of shooting and driving, at first it may seem like a GTA wanna be, but thats only the driving system, and the driving system is a small factor to the game. But one by one I will discuss the factors of the game.

Graphics - 8/10

I have to say, wow. When things explode it has major detailed added to it, you see the fire flare, smoke rises, and shoots debris out everywhere. And not to add the parts of the building or tank fly and roll around. And the character designs are wonderful and fairly detailed. So I have to say, slightly above average, but great none the less.

Story 8/10

Well, there is not much to the story. You get to control one out of three characters with backgrounds, and you have to complete missions for certain HQ 's. And you have to capture the "Deck Of Cards" in order to locate The Ace of the deck. But the story is smooth and its not mind boggling.

Sound 9/10

Well i'm not to crazy for voice overs, but the ones in this game were fair, smooth. I guess I can't complain. But that not why I gave it a 9. The music. Its well done and beautiful, and very catchy at that. I find myself humming it often.

Game play 10/10

This is were the game shines. You can choose to do missions, or just be random and destroy everything in sight. You have a wide selection of guns and weapons, and even larger selection of vehicles ranging from civilian cars to tanks and helicopters. But tanks are very glitch bound, they snag and climb over everything. I find myself ditching my tanks often because they glitch through a tree or mountain. And as for the game, the game lasts awhile and is very addictive.

Overall 9/10

The tanks and pretty much driving system is very glitch bound. But don't let this spoil the game for you. Random runs, explosions, missions, this game is probably one of the best out there, and if your still questioning the game, rent before you buy. But I purchased the game before I rented it, and I am not disappointed.
