NBA Street Vol. 2
Review by Maniac107
"Good Street Syle game with some flaws"
Intro: NBA Street 2 wasn't that much of an anticipated game in my area, but it turned out being a success. The game was pretty cool, so I decided to pick it up. I was really hyped about actually buying the game, but I soon found out it got kinda boring playing the game for a long time. I think they have a great improvement over NBA Street the original, but I think they should have kept some things. The new rating is system is worse, especially since there is no speed rating, which is one of those flaws I talked about in the title.
Gameplay: 7/10
The Gameplay is fun, but it has too many flaws. The new Gamebreaker 2 is insanely cool, but some of the dunks are over-the-top and incredibly stupid. Ex: Dunkalicious and Alley-Oops where they end up jumping above the backboard. The difficulty is a problem. Got Game is insanely easy to the point where a 7 year old can go undefeated in NBA Challange and Be A Legend. While Mad Game is hard, and Legendary is disturbing. I usually play on Mad Game and win, but whenever I play Be A Legend in the beginning, it's extremely frustrating to have no talent and to be schooled by scrubs. Mostly losing by 2 points. Other then that, the tricks are very cool and it's fun to play.
Graphics: 10/10
Not much to say about the graphics. It's very nice looking and pretty nice cel-shading. The Gamebreaker effects are simply amazing and all of the characters are VERY detailed from facial hair to faces. I haven't really looked at things like tattoos and things like that, but I will tell you that the characters look very identical to the real players even though it is cel-shaded. Pretty solid with no noticeable flaws.
Sound: 6/10
Probably the worst thing about this game. The soundtrack is ok, but they failed to get any real popular songs and I sometimes find myself taking the sound off.
The soundtrack is also very small and mostly songs from Just Blaze are the best on the soundtrack. Bobbito is a NIGHTMARE! He is incredibly annoying and says stuff that just doesn't make sense. Ex: THE HOTNESS! or Dance on him, dance on him. You might seriously want to take it off if you don't want to be annoyed. Bobbito says only a few things that you might actually laugh at, other then those few things, Bobbito Garcia is the only reason the sound rating is so low, other then that the soundtrack would have gotten an eight probably.
Replay: 10/10
Good replay value, due to the fact that you'll probably be mixing the teams and players up after you complete the game. Also you'll probably be creating more and more players to use in Be A Legend. I just like to create teams and play now that I've done Be A Legend so many times. Good overall replay value overall, you'll find yourself playing this game all of the time over and over and over......
Controls: 8/10
Pretty decent controls. It can be confusing though with all of the different combos and all of the buttons that are used. You can play a very basic style, but that makes it harder and less fun, plus you'll never be able to pull off a game-changing gamebreaker. The controls are very easy to master if you are a veteran and it's pretty easy to get the hang of. If you are a newbie you probably will need to go to Street School and practice a bit before you go and play or it might be a bad experience for you.
Overall: 8/10
Solid overall game. Good Replay value. Good fun factor and great graphics.
There is some flaws though, and things that reduce the fun, like some mention in the other sections. Still a fairly good game and should be considered as a buy even though Volume 3 is coming out.
Buy or Rent
I'm not really going to say, this game is kind of based on what you like.
If you like basketball then it should be considered, if you like Street style games then it's a buy. Rent it if you're curious though..
