The X-Files: Resist or Serve
Review by Malachen
"The truth is out there! And in here!!!"
From the moment you begin to play this game you will see that it is in essence X-Files. Especially when the shows intro appears at the beginning of the first ep.
Gameplay 10/10
The camera angles sometimes get annoying as you cannot manually control them, but the actual game more than makes up for that. You are Special Agent Fox Mulder or Special Agent Dana Scully (You get to choose), and you get to visit the lovely county of Red Falls, and you have to solve clues just like in the real T.V show. The most interesting gameplay feature is the Autopsies as Scully but i won't go in to too much detail. It plays much like an RE game but is definitely in a class of is own.
Story 10/10
The story is pretty amazing, you goto Red Falls and find out very quickly that all is not how it seems. You have come to find Katlyn and Mandy Winslow, two 'Witches' that have been accused of several murders by the townspeople, who even though they are dead, still do a good job of trying to kill you. The story is written by the creators of the show themselves so you know it is gonna be good.
Graphics and Sound 10/10
The graphics and sound are great, The graphics are quite amazing and the likeness to the real-life characters is uncanny. There are some really bad animations on the hands but who ever paid attention to the hands. The sound definitely adds to the atmosphere. I found myself looking over my shoulder many a time.
Playtime and Re-playability 6/10
Playtime and re-playability is not a big thing in this game. I found i had completed the first two eps for both characters in just under 5 hours and so far as I can see there is no point replaying it to unlock things, just to go through the horror again.
Overall 10/10
Apart from the very few glitches this game has it is still a very good game to buy if you want to play an X-Files episode (well, three to be exact), but rent if you just want a break from RE.
