TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
Review by mijihon
"Hotter than a splitter on heat."
Introduction:
I never played the original Timesplitters for the PS2 but was recommended Timesplitters 2 by a friend and absolutely loved it. Timesplitters 3 takes that love and makes a wedding! It truly is a great game and an improvement on the already perfect Timesplitters 2.
Storyline 10/10:
The story takes off from where it ended in TS2. Cortez crash lands back on earth with the Time crystals and using these must uncover the source of the crystals and attempt to prevent the Splitters vs humans war from ever happening.
The story play itself is a lot more involving than the previous two and also a lot more humorous, you'll find yourself hooked for hours.
Graphics 9/10:
The graphics in Timesplitters Future Perfect do nothing short of amaze. Every map is pure detail down to the smallest tile and its the little things that seem to make all the difference.
The new addition of blood to the game is a nice effect without sounding to strange. It does bring the age limit up but makes the game feel more realistic and less cartoon-like but still isn't too serious and doesn't ruin the games fun arcade image.
The clips in between levels on story mode are animated very well and give you the feel that your actually watching a movie.
Sound 8/10:
Character voices have been improved and there's a nice little addition to the character selection screen where a character will perform an animation and say a short catch phrase, nothing special, just a nice little detail.
Gun sounds and surrounding environment sounds have been vastly improved and give the game that extra realistic boost.
One downside of the game which does appear to be unneeded is the announcer, just doesn't seem to do anything for it, but with the option to turn it on/off it isn't a problem.
Game-play 10/10:
The overall best trademark of Timesplitters, the outstanding Game-play. It'll have you playing against friends for hours. And as well playing against friends and bots in arcade matches normally, you can also compete against players around the world online using the net feature and using this you are also able to trade created maps with other players. The best part is its free!
With the return of everyones favourite characters from the previous installments as well as the additions of some new faces you'll be battling it out for hours.
Lifespan 10/10:
This game will last you years. Every match you play is different and never has the feeling to it as though you've done it before.
Story mode alone has to be completed 6 times to get 100% completion (single player easy, normal & hard and two player easy, normal & hard) and along with challenges, arcade leagues and countless net battles its guaranteed to maintain a place in your gaming collection.
Final Thought:
If you haven't already got this game then get out and get it, its a must have for any gamers collection. I was originally cautious about first person shooters but Timesplitters should come under a genre of its own, its that dam good.
