"Good Job Sega. Unlike Nintendo, You Know What A Great Deal Is."

One of the better classic game compilations out there, this game is totally worth that extra $20 just sitting there in your wallet. You get 20 games for a dollar apiece, and you get the satisfaction of knowing you own some of the most memorable titles out there. So savor that there game, because...um...well, it's a Sonic the Hedgehog collection...and Sonic rules...

Concept - 9/10 Your goal is to go and play 16 Sonic the Hedgehog titles, and 4 other Sega Genesis games. That is one hell of a concept! However, if anything really brings it down, it's the method of unlocking these wonderful games. What you do is play these games (or for us cheapskates, go in and out of...) until it 20. Then you must do the same with another game, hopefully unlocking a new game. I couldn't ask for a more worse system. Well, at least it isn't like Nintendo, where you have lay down $20 dollars for EACH 8-BIT game, while you get 20 16-BIT games from Sega...by the way, Ristar rocks in this collection...

Graphics - 9/10 Hey! These date back to the early and and mid 90s! You have to be a little generous! Besides, did you care about the graphics when you were a little 4 year old boy? I certainly didn't! And I hardly care for them now! 16-bit is a beautiful word, son, and you better appreciate it! With all your "bits don't matter anymore" crap. Shutup! Anyway, be sure to expect, well...Genesis and SNES graphics...

Sound - 9/10 Everybody's heard those "beep boop bop" noises. Well, these are the slightly enhanced versions of those. It was Genesis, after all. So don't expect Final Fantasy-esque music. It gives you a lot of nostalgia though...that brought up the score by at least one point...

Playability - 10/10 I think a wise man once said, "Simple, yet elegant", whoever said that was damn right. Although the controls were extremely simple and limited, they were near perfect. Since every game in this collection with an exception of The Ooze is a platformer, you're not going to see any of the fancy combos that you see in Devil May Cry.

Replay Value - 10/10 This is one of those rare games that you pop in weeks after you've bought it. Truly amazing. Plus it's hard to get away from cute, speedy titles such as Sonic and...Sonic. Plus Ristar easily has the best replay value of any of these games. So expect to keep this in your disc tray for months to come. So now comes the final question...

Rent or Buy Well, buy, no ****! You're not going to see a compilation at your local BlockBuster! But really, I'd suggest you buy this, since you'll easily get bored of unlocking games, and one pretty much requires that you have save data of a certain game that brings shame to Sonic fans everywhere...the dreaded Sonic Heroes.... Rent that, it you're willing to play Comix Zone, a nice Viewtiful Joe-esque title..but other than that, stay away from that blasted game! So...um, see ya!
