TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
Review by theedgecator54
"Future Perfect? Yes it is"
The third game in a highly successful series of innovative first person shooters.
Well known for there fast paced arcade action and non realistic gameplay.
Graphics 9.7/10
Some of the freshest graphics you will find on the PS2. Improved over the previous games the animation is now much smoother and the cut-scenes are greatly improved and are successfully used to show off the brilliance of the graphics. The Developers have stuck to what is best and kept the cartoon style graphics, but now the backgrounds, guns, characters and menus have been greatly reworked to give a nice authentic touch about them. A downer though is the map maker graphics are still pretty dull and blotchy.
Sound 9.4/10
Along with the graphics the sound has now improved. Now when you select a character they say a phrase which adds more humor to the game. The voice acting has vastly improved and the cut-scenes easily show this. There are more background tracks to go with the new levels but background tracks from previous are still available when customising arcade matches, meaning you can blast off a monkey's head while listening to the classic Mexican mission tune.
Gameplay 9.0/10
Future Perfects story missions are now much longer and there are more of them, but there are fewer challenges and arcade league missions. A bad thing is there aren't as many second functions for some weapons, for example the plasma auto-rifle doesn't come with the plasma grenade function. But but that doesn't matter that much because many other weapons have second functions. Now the arcade matches are even better as you can customise every little detail. The new levels are excellent and there are also some classic levels. Another negative is there is no new game modes but there are still all of the unique modes like virus, (Run away from the person with the virus) Gladiator and many more. These minor details though don't really bring down the indestructible arcade mode, leagues and challenges which are more challenging than ever.
Lifespan 9.5/10
This game can last for ever if you want it to. you probably won't find more fun in any other first person shooter for the PS2. The story is much longer and harder.
The arcade mode lasts forever and it will take you a long time to work through the leagues and challenges to unlock all 150 characters. The game also tells you how much percentage you have completed wanting you to play the game more so you can achieve 100%. The multi-player is the best for PS2 in my opinion, it is easier to use and more frantic than before. While most FPS only have a simple story and basic multi-player while this has both an excellent story mode and multi-player. This game also boasts an excellent online mode, a first for the series.
you won't go wrong with this game. specially if you like fast, frantic and arcade style shooters. 9/10
