Cold Fear
Review by zombiesmusher01
"A hard, dull, horror experiance."
Introduction: First off, I would like to tell you that this game throws everything at you in the beginning. The only thing different later on is the levels and weapons, that's it.
I thought this would be good, and in all honesty, its a good game, but been done already. Like the other person said. "Resident evil on a boat." That's all it is, but it has a worse Camera. Now for the review.
Graphics: Stunning, that's what got this game up to a five. They are almost perfect. Water effects are very realistic, and the graphics are almost like all a big fancy cut scene. They rock! You got to see it. The environment is so scary it isn't funny. The lightning flashes will make you jump as if Elmo flew out of a window with a butcher knife at you. They are almost perfect. 8/10
Sound: The best part of this game. Everything is done perfectly, from music, to dripping water while you walk down a dark hall way. Gun shots sound cool, and everything is done so well. You can tell the makers really cared. The sounds of waves splashing against the hull of the ship are excellent, and the creeks of the boat as it turns are very well done. The sound is very good believe me. 9/10
Story: Evil man tries to make zombies and mutant creatures to kill things, and your mission is to find out why, where, how, and when. That's it. Resident evil basically. 4/10
Game play: Linear, repetitive, and dull. You run around, getting a key code or key, then run back through mazes, get into the new door, and repeat process while being chased by zombies. You get hit by everything in the first ten minutes of the game, and the only new thing is new areas and weapons. You get hardly any allies, and only about six enemies to fight, altogether. Think Resident evil 2 with improved graphics, and if you never played that, its like:
Getting chased by enemies while trying to open doors and get from point A to B without getting killed. Its long, boring, and repetitive. That's all I can say really.
Replay Value: Low, very low. Hardly any bonus material, long dragged out puzzles, and impossible to beat enemies, you will not enjoy this game. I tried, but couldn't.
Final Recommendation: Rent it. The week should give you enough time to realize you didn't like it. If you get it as a gift, sell it and buy something else. Well, that's my review! Sorry about it being short, its midnight here and I got to go to bed now. Good night!
