"More rewarding than watching the trailer again"

For many Star Wars fans waiting to see the next film in the series is about as fun as watching the romance between Anakin and Padme blossom in episode II. If you know what I mean than you will be as disappointed in this games as you were with the tacked on romance in the second film of George Lucas' new trilogy.

Gameplay: First of, I want to get this out of the way, the studio that developed this game is one that has a string of sub par games that have disappointed me....mafia anyone? Having said that I didn't have high expectations for the gameplay. It turned out I was half right. The controls aren't terrible they just don't encourage you to learn much in the way of skill. Point in case...blocking, I found it didn't require timing or skill and could be done quite easily and it made boss fights to simple. You can use blocking instead of force powers as your "bread and butter" strategy for eliminating the toughest characters in this game. I also wasn't altogether fond of the way combos were done, maybe I am spoiled from my phantasy star online days, but I found the combos weren't at all flashy or powerful. The first powerful combo you learn may as well be the only one you have available to you your enemies don't learn your pattern and start blocking, which would have been nice as this would have presented that wonderful thing called a "challenge".

5/10

Story: This one is a no-brainer, the film was amazing at since the game is based on it, it goes with out saying the story for the games is just as good. The best thing going for this game is the expanded level design that goes over and above what is seen in the films. Wanna see more detail on grievous' flag ship? , how about A bigger glimpse of Anakin slicing and dicing on Mustafaar?, or my favorite, wanna see Anakin being a monster in the Jedi Temple? It's all there, and you are given the opportunity to see additional characters that didn't make the final cut of the film. Cid Drallig anyone?

9/10

Graphics: Not bad, not great...but this late in the product life cycle of next-gen consoles can do much more. Another reason why I dislike the developer of this game "The Collective".

5/10

Fun and Lasting Appeal: Well it is definitely fun to play as the biggest villain in the galaxy, their just isn't much in the way of lasting appeal. The multiplayer is dull and the Bonus missions don't have the same appeal as the rest of the game. The core game itself can be beaten in a day I beat the game in about 5 hours....man am I ever glad I only rented.

6/10

In closing I should mention I am a big Star Fan....I have seen Episode III 3 times in the theatre in the first week of release alone. I do believe this game can be enjoyed, just not for a sustained period of time, and not at the same price as superior games. If you are a Star Wars fan and must own I would urge you to wait for this game to hit bargain bins. Trust me it shouldn't take more than a couple of months.
