World War Zero

"Will end up in a dusty crate in the attic within a week of purchase!!"
World War Zero: Another low budget unpopular piece of garbage that has somehow crawled out of the trash into the nearest high street shop and tucked itself away under the bottom shelf next to Devil May Cry 2. The First Person shooter is based on the World War One in 1914, which in this alternate ending is still continuing in the hippie years of the 60's. The Story Line is somewhat entertaining about the enemy deciding to build a concequering empire across the globe and it's a pity that a big budget company didn't catch on the idea instead of the small known developers this game came from.
Once you take this home you will notice that the game play is a little gritty, with small-minded hands to work with and no boom from other games to get the gamers mind flowing it can turn a bit sleepily. Especially with no imagination while in game play from the characters you may find yourself switching your console off before even getting started. Luckily though the game can pick up and turn at least a little more exciting to keep you to stay for at least a while. Fortunately the difficulties of the game have a variety from a walk in the park to a bundle of rock solid action.
The Controls of the game are just as plain as any other FPS so no troubles if you are a veteran of this sort of game. If you aren't then you will most likely pick up the buttons in a matter of a hour or so, but it can be difficult for any player of the game to really get acquainted with the controls, they other no hand to hand combat weapons and gadgets of sort are out of the question, like most low budget games it has little to offer I the department which other games really concentrate on. There some weapons choice but with all the same effects you won't know the difference from a shotgun to pistol.
As for sounds, any classical music from other games like Call of Duty or Medal of Honour has been totally chucked out of the window along with cheesy quotes from characters, admittedly they add a small realism to the game but there so repetitive that you end up smashing up your speakers just to shut yourself up. With a few small chimes to keep you company in battle you may wonder if the game just forget about sounds. The only things in the sound department of World War Zero that are any decent are the gun sounds, the bangs and shunts of the guns really give away a description of the gun you are using but with nothing apart from bangs and a few small chimes in the silent background of the game, it is a real let down.
Graphics in this sort of game normally end up looking blocky and dull but some how they come on top in this section, the game carries a colourful take off rare in some games, but everything from the colourful environments including snowy church fields to small villages to the weapons and characters look beautiful in a very impressive view, it's a pity this game is low on morale because the graphics haven't got the respect they deserve.
The Game has some small gaps in which you could spend a week completing, with a few difficulty levels to complete and a multiplayer option you could find yourself spending your pocket money on something that could keep you entertained for a week and now and then for a quick blast but it may end up in your attic, poor and shoddy, you would be wasting your time walking up to the high street for this. Renting it would be difficult so I would try a demo to make your mind up on the game but it isn't worth the attempt really. If you see on the bottom shelf of your local game store carrying dust just leave it there and find something more entertaining for a cheaper price, perhaps a Rubix cube.
