Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Review
As avid star wars fan I could not wait to get my nerdy hands on the latest Star Wars Movie based game. My Initial response to the game was I loved it, however after beating I realized how short it was, after completing the missions there is little to be done with the exception of Co-op and Versus of which provide AGES of enjoyment. I personally love this game a heck of a lot and enjoy it every time I play it, but it might not be everyone's so-called cup of tea. But on with the review .
Game play
The game play mainly consists of light saber combat, which is controlled by the Square and Triangle buttons (square for fast attacks, Triangle for strong attacks), using these two buttons the player is allowed to string a variety of combos together to destroy anything that may block your advance. You also have a critical attack button (circle) which will often kill enemies and execute awesome install-kill moves (Pick-up and impale anyone?).
Another huge chunk of game play would be the force powers that you level up throughout the game. From such classics lighting and push to some new ones such as grasp which is where the Jedi/Sith lifts the victim up into the air. As you put experience into moves and force powers (which is measured by the build-up meter ala Lord of the rings) the said abilities with have more potency or work faster etc. I loved the game system as it is flexible and fun to play.
Sound/Music
The sound effects are what you'd expect, the swing of the light sabers, the characters voice and all other things are spot on (even though the actors in the film did not lend their voices to this game). The music is good, however my main gripe is that there is little to no Episode 3 music, throughout the game you will hear mostly Return of the Jedi music and a little this and a little that.
Graphics
There graphics are fairly good, with the exception of some levels where it becomes lazy and the graphics are slightly dodgy. It is exceptional however when playing Versus mode with a friend or against the computer.
Story
The game follows the movie fairly closely, with the exception of some parts such as Anakin's assault on the Jedi temple, the death of the CIS leaders, and the fight with Grievous among others. One major thing is some bosses are quite different from their movie counterparts.
Rent/Buy
The only major thing that plagues this game is its length, for those willing to buy it, I suggest wait until the price goes down then buy it. Most people can rent it and beat it within the day. Ultimately the decision is up to you.
