Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Review by Dethmeista

"OK, but far from amazing."

Star Wars is BACK, ladies and gents. The new film has finally arrived, and a game has been bundled with it (to the suprise of absolutely no-one), but is it any good, you ask? Well, yes and no...

In terms of looks, it looks great. The characters look quite lifelike, which is fairly impressive, but good graphics don't make a good game, unfortunately. However, the people look very real, the sabres look the way they should (not like the sabres on Jedi Knight , which didn't look real at all) and the environments look great too. As a special treat, you'll also get some little clips from the film itself. Very nice.

Sound is also good. The music is the usual Star Wars stuff, just tunes from certain parts of the film, which isn't a problem, especially if you're a die hard fan. Sound effects are great too, with the voices done perfect, and the sabres making their classic buzzing and clashing, which is cool and adds depth to the whole experience. All good here.

Gameplay is the most important thing, however, and the game has problems here. The camera is a little irritating at times, and since most of your opponents carry blasters, you'll sometimes find yourself getting shot at from an enemy who isn't on the screen, which is very annoying. Also, the auto lock-on is terrible, and you'll find that it's solely responsible for getting you killed on levels with lots of enemies, as your character insists on attacking an enemy miles away, whilst getting shot by another droid who you can't defend yourself from, simply because your character won't face the right way. Also, the action is a little bit linear and repetitive, so after you do complete it (which won't take too long) you probably won't go back for more.

So overall, you'll love it if you're a Star Wars fan, and you'll probably like it if you aren't into Star Wars much too, but there are many titles out there that just do it much better. If it's a good hack and slash action adventure you want, I'd suggest Devil May Cry for you, but if you love Star Wars, then get this and enjoy!
