"Graffiti Kingdom is all that and then some"

Graffiti kingdom is suppose to be a sequel to a underrated game called Magic Pengel- the quest for color. Most sequel are usually not half as good as the original game itself. To my surprise, Graffiti kingdom is better than I expected. I got this game since the day it came out, and I have been playing it almost non-stop ever since. How often do you play a role playing console game that let you draw your own characters and battle demons with it?

Storyline: The story is about Prince Pixel who accidentally broke the wand's seal one day and release the evil lord that once ruled the world. The evil lord spared Prince Pixel's life but he took over the castle and nearby town that Prince Pixel resides in, and he must save his parents and all the innocent peoples that were trapped inside. You know the typical "I have to save my home town by defeating the evil lord story plot". And guess what this time around your side kick is a creature that call herself Pestel. She always argue with Prince every five seconds but she was just trying to teach Prince Pixel how to battle evil and guide him to use his imagination to draw all these fantastic doodles, so he could transforms into that doodles and battle against all the wicked monsters that roam freely inside the castle.

Gameplay: Just like another role playing games, your character Prince Pixel have level, health and limited crystals that allow him to capture limited amount of monster depend on how many crystals he has. You can draw whatever creature you want, then give that doodles different attacks, shape, looks and color. Basically you can draw a fierce dragon that have fire breath, or little kitty that know karate. At first, you only have limited option to alter your creatures, limited amount of fighting moves. As you progress the story or increase your level, then those advance option will be available. Your side kick- Pestel will teach you all the basic stuff you need to know in the beginning of the games, then during the battle, you can either transform into the creature that you drawn and battle all the enemy, or capture one of the monster, and then you will take that monster's form for limited amount of time and when time's up you will be change back into Prince Pixel's form. The battle engine is like a typical action-rpg game. You press x to jump, circle to do special attack, square to do a normal attack, depend on your control set-up. Although you can change your creature's stance, moves and give him different attack depend on his shape, after all you can't give a creature with no legs a kicking move now, can you? It won't make any sense at all if that happen.

Sound/Music: The music is this game is pretty average. I don't recall there is any battle theme at all. The background music is so dull sometimes during the story. The voice acting is surprisingly, i mean the dialogue between Pixel and Pestel are hilarious, and the voice actor and actress that did their voice, they did a really good job. I was having a blast while listening to them bickering with each others.

My conclusion:This game is a really unique role playing game. I am sure that we all have great imagination when we were still a kid, we would often draw a lots of different creature in the wall or on the floor. We all wished those creatures will come to life. Now your wish have come true. You can now continue that imagination and draw all your fantasy creatures in this game, and then battle monsters, demon and save the world, just like a fairy tales. For a $30 games, this game is almost like a steal, you should go out and buy it asap if you are a real life artist and really good at drawing. Even if you are not good at drawing, you can always buy a Max drive and then download all those amazing doodles that other people created and use them in your game.
