Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana

"Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana review"
Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana for the Playstation 2 has hit U.S. shores and is a solid title in a series that most U.S. gamers haven't had a lot of. Its not the best turn-based Rpg out right now however their is things about the game that at least merits a try.
Story 5/10
The only reason it even scored this high on the story portion has to be because of the fact that their is so many good side stories that are brought to you by playing through sidequests for the various shop owners and NPC's. However the root of the problem of the main story of Atelier Iris is that their is hardly any plot twists to mention. Filled with a cliched plot their isn't as much as one defining moment throughout the entire game.
Graphics 4/10
The graphics of AI: EM is done through 2D models filled with some vibrants colors and pastels. However the semi- 3D world map is somewhat bland and jagged. In some ways colors don't seem to match like Klein's hair could be anywhere from blond, red, or a reddish brown. The game also appears to have some slowdown problems such as the Ending freezing or Klein getting stuck when using elemental extract on certain things.
Sound 8/10
The sound that accompanies the game seems to go well with the setting of the story implying a more happy upbeat tempo throughout most of the game as well as the music that incorporates each area seems to go well with what the atmosphere of the surrondings.
Gameplay 9/10
The best part of the game and the thing that will keep you playing is the gameplay. Their isn't much that makes the combat overly successful it is basic turned basd action with the usual certain skills. Battles seem simple but the gameplay shines is during the item synth system and the sidequests. The synth system will not only reward you with new items such as healing potions and bombs but it will also grant you armor and accessories. The sidequests in this game are not only fun and entertaining but rewarding you with cash and items, as well as info into the background of some of the NPC's
Overall 6/10
Atelier Iris is not a game for those who are looking for innovation or deep story but what it does is give gamers what they want that is good gameplay that is simple and fun.
