Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Taisen Alpha
Review by delacroix01
"This is a great chang of Banpresto. Why don't you buy it?"
If a gamer like tactical games, he will not ignore the Super Robot Taisen series. Being a great fan of this series, I have played some of them, like SRW4 Scramble, SRW Alpha, SRW Alpha Gaiden and Super Robot Taisen Impact. I'm quite familiar with those games and they're quite easy with me. But, when I see Super Robot Taisen Alpha 2, I cannot believe in my eyes. WHOA! This game is DIFFERENT! Yes, it is very different from the ones that I have ever played, and much better than Super Robot Taisen Impact, which was much better than all previous SRW game.
1. Graphics (Include Robots, Pilots, terrain and other things) : 10/10
This game has excellent graphics, which I can see in the first time. Pilots and the robots are very good-looking. They look much better than they were before. Banpresto used harmonious colors, making the graphics is really great.
2. Music : Don't need to talk anymore (10/10)
Music is one great feature of the Super Robot Taisen series, which I liked very much. The music in this game is excellent, especially the Alpha Numbers soundtrack. Those make the game become very interesting.
3. Best camera view in all game that I have played (10/10)
Supporting only 4 direction of camera, the view can be easily handled. This game made good the biggest shortcoming of Super Robot Taisen Impact, which the camera was very bad. Therefore, players can change the camera even if the scene is space. This is a great advantage of Super Robot Taisen Alpha 2.
4. Game play : Greatest feature of this game (10/10)
Robot units divided into teams with maximum units for each team is 4. This make the attacks become more powerful and more spectacular. In battles, gamers can also use the ALL type attacks with an assist unit. By this change, most units will be used instead of several units like in previous SRW games and they can be level up easily. The enemies will be more harder because of this feature. Great! Besides, gamers can decide to power-up pilots by themselves. This means they must be more careful in playing the game. I think this is also make the game more enjoyable. Moreover, the speed of the game make the battles become more interesting. It's speed is much higher than the Impact. Because of this, I don't have to wait much long like in SRW Impact. Besides, there are only few bosses run when HP is low, not too much (like the Impact). This mean I don't have to soft reset too much time just because the boss wasn't die after my attack. And with four main characters to choose, meaning 4 different paths, I can replay the game without boring about the same stages that I have beaten. One more, when press the Start button in a stage, enemies and player's unit are highlighted to make people see the map easier. Last, the Spirit skills can be used correctly because the pilot face are showed in the Spirit command screen. Well, nothing to complain about this feature.
5. Story (9/10)
I don't understand Japanese. But I have read some translations about the story of the game. I think it is really that good. So I gave it 9/10.
6. Opening movie : Not great, but not bad (8/10)
The opening movie in this game is not bad. But it is not really as good as the one in Super Robot Taisen Impact. So I gave it only 8/10.
7. Final rating : 10/10
Phew! With all I have explained above. This game is worthy with the best mark : 10/10. It seemed to be a work of art. Nearly perfect! Why don't you buy it?
