Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Lockdown
Review by CrimsonStriderX
"Rainbow Six: Lockdown"
This is my first time playing a Rainbow Six game, and although this game wasnt bad, I did expect a lot more. Theres a lot of good things to this game, as well as bad things.
Game play:
Overall, the game play was pretty decent. There were a lot of things that I feel they could have done better with some effort. First of, the A.I isnt that bright. In fact its just plain stupid at times. You dont know how many times I ran around a corner, only to turn around and still see a terrorist there, waiting for me. Or the countless times it tries to crouch and walk BY you, in plain sight. However, in certain situations (like when they're already firing at you) they seem to be able to do a decent job of hitting you, so at least their accuracy isnt bad.
As for your team, you might as well have ONE person helping. They probably go to the bathroom together as a group, which was one of the biggest let downs. All your so called "commands" where limited to knocking down a door and throwing a nade (which they occasionally missed, killing me and all their teammates -_-) to running into it and spraying. You could also have them scout around corners, suppress an area (which pretty much made them spray bullets at nothing) and move to. They missed a golden opportunity to do things like split up your group and have one or two members cover certain locations, or break down a door from two sides (which you can do, but its you on one side and the three on the other) etc. Their A.I is decent, somewhat better than the terrorist, but the main use for them is as a meat shield. They really do a good job of taking some hits.
Overall its pretty fun, I was hoping for something that required more of a tactical approach, but I had just as much fun doing a sorta of half stealth half running around shooting people with a shotgun.
Also, my suggestion for more fun would be to take off all the aim assist and the brackets thing. It changed the gameplay quite a bit, making it so you had to really look for the enemy (at least on my screen).
Graphics:
Meh. Not great. I had to use my night vision most of the time to see enemies from a distance, but it might just be because my t.v was old. It looked better on my friends t.v, but even still Night Vision made things easier (since i took all the assist of). Could have been better, no doubt, but still nothing to bad.
Sound:
Sound was sound, there were quite a few instances where the certain sound effects, such as something crashin, came 10 seconds after it happened, and the voices could have been better, but other than that it o.k
Multiplayer (offline):
Multiplayer offline was pretty fun. Although its really really easy to beat it with respawn on (which is good because my friend and I like to kill each other, a lot ^.^) the difficulty would certainly increase without it. Seeing how human error can get your teammate killed, a lot, it could be a lot of fun if you have the patience. Terrorist hunt is fun, because the terrorist will actually sorta of hunt you, and their A.I is increased dramatically, we died within 30 seconds no expection the A.I to act as it did. Still fun, and once we realized this we got through the level, but it was indeed a lot more difficult (and fun) than in single player or regular multiplayer offline. One fun thing to do is to flash yourself while your friend is in the middle of a gun fight. Because the screens are right on top of each other, theres a good chance it will mess up your friend even though he wasnt blinded. Just a tip for those of you, who like me, like to run around and make things take twice as long ;)
Overall:
A fun game, but as someone who has never picked up a rainbow 6 game, try renting it first. You make like it a lot, but then im sure theres a lot of people who wont.
