"Shower head attack!"

At first glance, this game looks like it has the promise of other crazy Japanese games, such as Katamari Damacy, and this game does have a unique concept, but it's just not enough to make it absolutely awesome. There are many things that could have been improved, but instead were left bland.

GRAPHICS [7/10]
As this is a pretty old PS2 game, you can't really expect graphics that are going to make your mouth drop in awe, but they are somewhat decent graphics. There could have been lots that they could put in, such as more things that you can interact with. In a normal room, there will be the normal things; a TV, radio, curtains, and other everyday life things. The makers could have made the environment much, much more than a tasteless room. The stages you're in just aren't pretty or strange enough to keep your attention for long.

SOUNDS AND MUSIC [5/10]
One of the things that keep me hooked on a game is the music. I mean the music makes a huge portion of what you're playing right? You would not want a loud metal type song while playing a stealth mission. This is probably the weakest point in the whole game. The music didn't have to be a masterpiece, but dear God, wouldn't it be good if you had variety? Take Katamari Damacy for example. Its soundtrack is something that many people rave about, saying that its one of the few soundtracks they would listen to without actually playing a game. And the music in Katamari didn't even make sense! No one knew what they were saying in it. The makers of Mister Mosquito could have done the same. It's just that when you're playing level seven, it seems as if you have listened to the same song for seven stages.

GAMEPLAY [9/10]
When I had first heard about this game, it caught my eye. It wasn't the normal headshot, explosion, random encounter, or even rhythm game that was out. This game had a concept that was just absolutely enthralling to me. When I was young, I had always wanted to be some type of creature, and now was my chance. The controls are the only downside of the gameplay. It seems sometimes you're making mile long turns, and when you home into your target, you'll miss, even though you hit it right on. Playing this game after seeing hundreds of RPG's and FPS's is like a great inhale of fresh air, a much needed one from all the normal things we see everyday.

REPLAY VALUE [8/10]
It kept me hooked for a while. The challenges can vary from easy to hard, and you have many things to do. EX Tanks to fill up, costumes to win, and even new skills to learn. It took me a while to do EVERYTHING in this game, and before I knew it, I had already invested over 15 hours into it. But once you play it for a while, it'll seem like you're just doing the same thing over and over and over.

RENT OR BUY? [BUY]
Why not buy it? It's 2005, 3 years after this game was made. You can easily find it online going for ~$10. Renting it is already half, so just buy it, you'll have another strange game to add to your collection, one that not many people know about.

OVERALL [7/10 BUY]
Mister Mosquito is a great game, and because of its cheap price, it should not be missed. It suffers from things that many other games suffer from, but makes up for it in its awesome gameplay. If you were a fan of Katamari Damacy, I would definitely recommend this game, as they are very similar.
