"What an FPS should be."

Alright, this is my first review and I'll do my best... I'll jump right into it.

Graphics 9/10 -

Great graphics with smooth textures and no frame rate shudders. They're not top of the line, you can tell they're fake, but the real-time rendered graphics are still pretty impressive for a PlayStation 2 game. Nothing like Shadow of the Colossus, but still good. I'd have given it a 10/10 but they're not breath taking.

Game play 10/10 -

This is where the game shines. With it's "hotswap" feature it adds a real sense of team work and, more often than not, urgency. I can't tell you how many times I've been sitting in my room screaming at my TV - in a good way. It's so much fun to have to utilize different men in different situations. Basically what "hotswap" is is when you are an assaulter and you see a tank coming, you can switch over to a mechanic and blow the tank with your rockets or mines.

Also, they have a unique ranking system. Each mission at the debrief you get so many stars, and with these stars comes ranks and challenge missions, as well as weapons. Believe me when I tell you this: You'll be going back to redo missions over, not because you failed, but because you want those damn stars!

The allied AI is good. Just good. More often then not I've had my entire force wiped out because they ran into a tank and didn't fire right away. So it was just me with a sniper rifle against 3 helicopter and 5 tanks.

Sound 7/10 -

The sound of my assault rifle isn't really convincing. And I thought a .50 Caliber sniper rifle made a loud noise...Guess not. While the sound isn't the most amazing thing to hit the PS2, you'll rarely notice it when you're trying to hit the Chinese dude on the roof. I overlook the sound a lot...So I'm giving it a good score...I found it to be less than 7, but I rarely notice it.

Replay Value 9/10 -

I've yet to beat the game, but I've replayed missions and done them completely different and walked away with 2 stars or 10 stars. It's really a good game for replay value. If I understood this right, there's a lot of missions in the game, so you'll most likely have fun going back and replaying the same mission in pursuit of those stars. Plus there's the challenge missions.

Rent or Buy -

If you're a hardcore FPS guy like me, I'd say buy it. If you're a fan of Halo 2, I'd say rent it. It's a good game.
