Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity
Review by RPGgamer777
"A great classical SRPG"
Overview-A boy named Spero is caught in the middle of a war and doesn't know which side is the right side. On one side is his friend he grew up thinking as his big brother, Viser, and on the other are people whom claim that the things he's doing are wrong. Spero sets out on a journey to try and find another way to do it.... So basically you point to where you want to go on the world map, then go there and fight. You keep on fighting untill the enemies get too strong, then you go and level up and get better equipment. It sounds boring but it's not. There are a lot side things to do and the level up and get better equipment part is fun and challenging. Well anyway here's my review:
Controls-8/10: Just your standard SRPG controls, choose your action do your action. However the game does have a feature that allows you to have all the actions right at your fingertips. It makes the game and battles go faster and make it seem a little bit like an action. Overall though it's not a breakthrough but its a nice feature to play around with.
Sound/Music-6/10: The music in this game isn't outstanding or annoying. There's no sound that really stands out, but there are alot of sounds and noises. Although I'd have to say the voice acting is bit bad. I mean the person who does Spero barely put any enthusiasm into it. Even when Spero's lines are supposed to be him mad he just sounds calm and natural. And believe me I doubt how his character is supposed to be.
Story-8/10: It's just your standard "the world is gonna end, so we have to save it" routine, but the reason the world is ending is pretty different. You know instead of a crazy madman wanting to take over the world and in doing so he's going to destroy the world thing. It's this time something called the miasma killing everything. Also the two sides in the war and how they deal with the miasma was pretty well thought out by the creators.
Replay value-10/10: With all of the hidden characters and legendary items that you probally won't get you'll be sure to go through the game again. Also you can get all kinds of items to teach your characters different abilities so you can really make your character however you want. However there isn't a New Game+ feature on this game so you'd have to start from scratch again. Finally there are also tons of quests and fusions to do so that should add to it.
And as for a rent or buy it pretty much depends on if you like these kinds of games or not. Personally I'd give it a try if I was an RPG fan, but if you rent it chances are you'll want to get it. So in conclusion my final score is:
8/10
