Battlefield 2: Modern Combat

"The best FPS on PS2"

This score is almost 10 but not quite due to a few minor faults. Ive not played single player as much as online so this is mainly based on online play.

gameplay 10/10
Online gameplay is excellent, you're never too far away from the action even though the maps are huge cos there are tanks, and jeeps, and choppers.
Also so far ive not encountered any lag at all,even though there are up to 24 players online, which is always good. Overall its not as tactically orientated as games like socom, but you can implement tactics like going round someones base to capture a flag etc... There are also red dotes above enemies, but ive never found that a problem. The USB headset is also compatable which is fairly effective though most people seem to go around on their own agenda, but its always good to have one just in case you get into a tactically orientated game.

Graphics 9/10
Overall very good graphics, but stuff like grass doesn't look very polished when you look at it close up. But the textures on the vehicles and explosions all look pretty good

Sound 9/10
Pretty good though some rifle sounds can sound a bit odd. But the rumble of tanks as they go past you, or a chopper firing missiles overhead makes the game sound a lot more realistic. You also get informed about how your team are doing on the map like when you take or lose a flag.

Offline 7/10
The weakest part of BF2:MC, but nonetheless still pretty fun. As in online you get to drive tanks and pilot choppers etc as in online. You also earn medals and points from good performances enabling you to move up a rank. If you kill your own team though you lose points (like I did), and you dont go up ranks very quickly . It is not too realistic, but the 'hot-swapping' feature is quite fun as you can go to different weapon sets, like you can use an engineer to blow a tank up, or swap to a sniper to take some enemies down long distance. The AI aint great, but there again that just makes it more fun. Despite being thick, the enemy are still dangerous especially when they're in tanks.

Online content 9/10
After you have finished a round you get your stats up for that game. You also have a points score which you can boost obviously by killing people, but also by saving a flag or blowing up enemy vehicles etc. On the main menu you've got the usual stuff like Friends lists and clan info, but the clan system is a lot harder to understand than say socom 2.

Replay 10/10
For online this is a great game. Since ive got the game ive been constantly playin it online. You are also able too rise up the ranks from private to 5 star general, which adds re-playability.

i'd advise you to buy this game if you like FPS and online play, though rent it first if you want to play offline.
