Review by ChaosFenrir

"One of my favorite Armored Core games, a definite buy for any giant robot fan."

This is my first review so I will try as best as I can. But anyways onto Armored Core 2!

Series Information-

Armored Core is very famous series that revolves around mech combat and mech customization. The games usually have three parts, missions, arena, and of course customization. Arena is where you battle other Armored Cores for money and experience. Missions are, of course, assignments you can take up for money. And lastly customization is building your own mech to your own tastes and designs.

GRAPHICS-8.5/10

Considering this is an early Playstation 2 game the graphics are pretty good. Armored Cores move very smoothly as they should. The environments may be a little disappointing but nonetheless the graphics on this game are a definite step up from the PS1 games.

GAMEPLAY-9/10

My second favorite aspect of the series and Armored Core 2 does not fail to deliver that. The controls are very fluid and are somewhat easy to learn. Whether you are sending dozens of missiles at your opponent or dodging gigantic laser blasts you can respect this game's gameplay engine.

The Arena fights are down right jaw dropping. When you work your way to the title Ninebreaker(that is the name of the top ranked Raven who defeated the top nine Ravens) it is a challenge! Every Arena battle is significantly different and exciting. Beating Ares was a challenge, which to this day I can barely defeat him unless I use dirty tactics. Though the second ranked Arena member is my favorite of them all. A condemned prisoner that exclusively uses grenade launchers. XD

STORY-10/10

Armored Core 2 IMO has the best plotline out of any of the games in the series. While I don't want to spoil anything it has it's own share of twists and the plot is paced perfectly.

The story takes place on Mars, a post apocalyptic era. Mankind is ruled by three corporations Zio Matrix, Emeraude and Balena. A group called the LCC which oversees the three corporations. And the Ravens are mercenaries who take any job for money using their Armored Cores. The plot revolves around an ex-Raven called Leos Klein who fights for Raven's to have rights once again.

REPLAY VALUE-10/10

I have spent easily around 150+ hours on this game. There is near endless combinations for your mech, which if you are like me you will try almost every combo trying to find your perfect AC. The Arena is easily my favorite part to this game, which has its own share of fun. Becoming the top ranked Raven is a totally satisfying experience. There are tons of hidden parts in the game to keep you busy for hours on end.

OVERVIEW-9/10

While Armored Core games are only for specific gamers, if you like mech combat then Armored Core is most likely for you. Most gamers would be finished with this game in one rental though it's so cheap now I would not see why not to just buy it. If you are a fan of the series then this is a definite must buy. If you enjoyed games like Zone of the Ender's then this game is most likely for you. If you are just looking for a new experience don't expect to fall in love with this game.
